I think before Spurs can do anything they need to confirm it is him.
Alot of people calling for Bent to be burned at the stake but like I said we still don't know its him. The other thing is, he has been a perfect player for us in the past, he sat on the bench and took it for the team because Berba and Keane had it going (unlike other players) He's had the "Bent the £16m flop" title over his head from both the media and fans for quite some time now and yet he came on and did what he was paid to do and at times did it very well. His goals count for our cup run and our position last season but we seem to forget all of that on a twitter page that might not even be him. Lets say its him, the guy has waited for his chance and thought he got it when Berba, Keane and Defoe left then Harry brings back 2 of them and it seemed like he was being pushed out the door. Frustation? stupidity? going on his agents advice? The facts are we don't know and if the reports are true neither does the club.

If its proven it is him then the club needs to give him the hardest punishment they can dish out but if they can't prove its him just get the deal done and put the guy out of his misery and send him away with our best wishes

Im sorry I think this just making a mountain out of a mole hill, Lets assume for the purpose of discussion, that Bent admits (to THFC) its his site, and his comments..

Whats he really done?? said He wants to go to Sunderland, wants Levy to stopping fucking around, (or pull his finger out? cant remember which) and its not Sunderland holding it up(implying Spurs are)...Ok from his POV, its not difficult to see it would seem that way to him...Im not saying he is right, just that its not impossible to see how he could have that POV.

SO when he's in Levy's punishment stocks, He says, his frustration got the better of him etc etc etc, didn't mean to imply etc etc etc...have the greatest respect etc etc etc....Sorry for etc etc etc. So all that will happen, and probably all that needs to happen, is an appology. and then it can go to bed, forgotten, as really it is not a biggy

The thing is that if its a case of Sunderland not matching our valuation of Bent shouldn`t Bent be pissed at Sunderland? Or does Bent himself not think he`s worth what we are asking for him? All reports suggest we want to recoup our money, so does Bent think he wasn`t worth 16.5m in the first place or does he believe he is worth less now because he is a worse player than when we signed him....

IF its Bent then he has acted in an unprofessional manner. He is being paid as a professional and shoul act that way at all times. The statement ion the twitter page should have been a conversation between him and Levy/board/management not on a public page.

He gets paid alot to be a professional so should get fined/punished alot for being unprofessional

This is all based on it really being DB on twitter however I find it hard to belieive its him

as a general something is only worth, has a value of, what someone is prepared to pay. from Bents POV, its "sunderland offered this, its a good offer, take it. I want to go."

Its not about "worth belief" or previous value to current value, previous market strength to current market strength. Its about the here and now..We want X they want to pay Y. Bent wants us to except Y, So it is all sorted out for him, no other reason.

No, Hes been paid as a professional footballer, which only means his status is one of not an amateur. in the context of a footballer, that's all the word professional means, not some high flying exec position. Some lofty position above the majority of people, just a guy who is paid to play football.

As ive said, (if all true) I am not saying he is right, Hes made a twat of himself,

He may well get fined, TBH I don't really care, but for me this is just mountains and mole hills..

Spurs are acting in an unprofessional manner. Bent should be continuing pre season, not rotting at home doing nothing.

To be honest i feel a bit orry for the guy, for starters no one knows if it is him yet! Secondly he hasnt really slagged off the club but he has had a dig at his chairman which by the sounds of it might be justified, he is being pulled from pillar to post, and he has been very professional whilst at spurs, he never whinged and moaned about not getting a game unlike some i can mention, just got on with it and tried to take his chance when it came. Anyway i hope the club just get it sorted out quickly as we once again looking like a bit of a circus!

just sell him
levy is unrealistic to think he will get back what we paid because he aint worth it !!
let the guy go , if we get 12 - 14 mil we will be laughing as we replaced him with someone much better for only 9 !

Very true if you believe all the twitter stuff, for all we know he may be at the training ground with the others that did not travel.
He could be working on some moves with Crouch! (I'm not talking about the robot)

Dont you think there is a potential, in the light of current events, for Bent being at the training ground might be a little disruptive?

Interesting thread from a Mackem forum (an ITK supposedly):

The story the other day that a call came in and Bent was taken off the plane as a result was in fact bollocks.

There had been no movement all day on the negotiations. Levy called up sunderland to say if you dont move your position he is getting on a plane and will be off to the far East for a week. He got no change in the sunderland position.

A spurs official was instead told that he should not be allow Bent to fly out - there was no phone call. When it was obvious nothing was going to change and the flight crew told the spurs official it was now or never Bent was duly bundled off the plane with the news media waiting for the story to be released.

Sunderland called Levys bluff and Bent was dragged around like a performing seal. There was no way he was going to be allowed to fly to the far east as now they have signed crouch they want the money and cannot under any circumstances risk an injury.

This story has not come from SAFC but someone in the Spurs organisation who was on the plane. Apparently - Bent is quite a popular lad - all the spurs management/squad are completely pissed off how he has been treated. Even Redknapp was forced to come out and do an interview 'bigging up bent'

If this is true I feel really sorry for Dazza. He does not deserve to be treated like that as he's always played his heart out for us IMO. How does this fit with the rumours about Villa, Hull et al?
