Djibril Cisse talking to Spurs over move

DJIBRIL CISSE is talking to Spurs over a possible £8m summer move.
The Sunday Sun understands that initial talks have already taken place between Cisse’s representatives and senior figures at White Hart Lane.
The Marseille hitman is on a season-long loan at Sunderland and the Black Cats have first refusal on him after agreeing a price of 10m Euros with the French club.
But, despite the fact that Cisse is Sunderland’s top scorer with 11 goals in all competitions this season, the Black Cats will not take up their option to buy as he has shown no signs of developing a partnership with Kenwyne Jones in his time on Wearside.
And with Cisse determined to leave Marseille in the summer – and the Premier League his preferred destination – that will leave the way clear for Spurs to swoop.
While Sunderland will not benefit directly from any move for Cisse by Spurs, there could be a spin-off for the Black Cats.
If Spurs boss Harry Redknapp does launch a bid for Cisse, he could fund it by selling Darren Bent to Sunderland.
The Black Cats were offered Bent as part of a player-plus-cash deal when Spurs tried to sign Cisse’s strike partner Jones in January, but boss Ricky Sbragia refused to part with his Trinidad & Tobago star. Sunderland then tried to sign Bent in a separate deal, but that move also foundered.
Sunderland retain an interest in Bent, who is Spurs’ top scorer with 17 goals in all competitions so far, and they are likely to return with an offer when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
Cisse has made an impact on Wearside this season but, while both he and Jones have netted double-figure goal hauls, the pair have generally played as two individuals rather than as an effective partnership.

Interesting if we offload one of our forwards.

It seems a bizarre link given Harry was talking about getting a couple of players in the their prime, playing well for their current clubs. This doesn't seem to include Cisse.

Cisse is the French Darren Bent. Cant see why we would bring him in. If we do offload a striker I would expect a big target man to be signed. Keane and Defoe obviously arent going anywhere, and even if we did sell Bent we can use JD as the man with pace to get in behind

Nor does he in any shape or form fit the bill of big powerful hold-up man. Why would we want a less effective version of Bent?

Watch him dye his eyebrows lilly white and moustache navy blue.

I would not replace any of our 4 strikers with Cissé, certainly not Bent to be honest.

Except that he needs twice as many chances as Bent to score a goal.

this guy is shocking. So far every Redknapp signing in my pinion has been justified and would therefore assume this is pure speculation

Chimbonda? Don't think I'll ever understand why he was brought back when we have enough cover at right back already and he's a shit left back, regardless of Hutton's injury at the time.

I watched him play a lot for Marseille (when he got in their side) the season before he came to Sunderland. He was awful and an object of derision and mockery for his own fans. He is a poor man's Darren Bent imo.
