Exactly - so if he wanted to make sure Tottenham would end his contract, he would ......
Mate, he won't have his contract cancelled. That amounts to gross irresponsibility by the Club. It would mean writing off any value the player has in the market place and the player himself going on a Bosman-esque freebie to another club. Not going to happen I feel.

Does anyone really believe that Twitter account actually was DB, even in the bbc article they say Spurs don't know.

hideous

:)

I stand by my choice of words.

I hate that he thinks he's better than us. Because he's not. It's not the words I have a problem with, it's the general attitude towards Spurs.

I've really fallen out of love with the idea of Bent being a Spurs player over the last few weeks.

What?

Seriously?

It's not "irrelevant". Football isn't this mysterious world that's completely non-subject to common decency, respect and rules of employment is it?

It's a fucking hideous thing to do. And I honestly don't see how anyone "not being a football chairman" can't have the opinion that he's been unprofessional to the extreme.

He could not transfer him and send him to the reserves and freeze his pay.

He's probably breached umpteen clauses of his contract, which I expect will trigger provisions for the club to fuck him financially and generally anally.

You don't mess with Levy ... he's different you know.

What he said plus what I said = what the truth is....not fucking db10thetruth......but THE TRUTH!

Any certified agent that let his client sign a contract like that would need to be certified in an entirely different sense. Football contracts simply don't work that way.

Bent will be hit with a fine for bringing the club into disrepute, but that is about all they can do him for.

Mate, he won't have his contract cancelled.

If that was what I meant, I would have said that. If he wants his contract to come to an end, there are only a few options - voluntary cancellation (never happens), expiry (his contract was for 'up to six years', so possible) or transfer.

The worst possible outcome? Reduced pay and being forced to not do anything all day.

You've changed the tune of what you have been saying so much in the last few pages I have lost track of what I initially thought you meant, but it certainly wasn't what you are saying you mean now.

Covenant strength of Tottenham Hotspur plc vs. covenant strength of Darren Bent and his agents.

I am but speculating, as are you. But I wouldn't be surprised for inappropriately airing confidential Tottenham Hotspur business, they could do some pretty rapey things to him.

Feel free to go back and re-read. I never suggested that Levy would somehow just let Bent become a free agent in retaliation.

I said that there is not a lot he can do to punish him.

I'm sure he doesn't. Nobody would view Sunderland as a step up. He has always maintained that he wants to play consistently and Spurs have just gone and got another striker. We are 2 weeks away from the first game of the season, he has been dragged off the flight to Beijing to complete this transfer and is now sat at home doing nothing while both Spurs and Sunderland crack on with pre season.

That is not Bent thinking he's better than Spurs, it's just a naive footballer venting his frustrations in a way that he shouldn't. But all of you foaming at the mouth about it is hilarious, especially when you consider some of the shit written about Levy on here! We all know he's an arse.

As I've said elsewhere I feel sorry for Benty. He's been treated shoddily by the majority of fans, the manager and the club in general.

But that's still no excuse for posting your opinions on your current employer (an employer let's not forget who pays him fairly well) on a public website.

It's unprofessional, not likely to speed up the process (could in fact make Sunderland think if he's worth the hassle) and generally pretty stupid.

Arguably, but it would most likely not be in their best interests to make a big issue out of it.
Swap him to Leeds for Delph, that'd learn him :)

That's not what he's strongly implying, dude.

I'm not foaming at the mouth, it just makes it easier for me to say au revoir. Darren Bent, welcome to the Stephen Carr list of "Fuck You".

As for Levy, say what you want about him, but you can't touch him for his business skills. Can't touch him.

I've read all those updates as they've been posted and never once got the feeling that he thinks he's too good for us, just a frustrated guy who knows his days at Spurs are numbered and in a WC year wants his future sorted out so he can play.

There's businessmen, and then there's Levy...you know Levy...he's different. He's got a whole new category named after him.

In the future...people who excel at business will be known as levymen.

I've heard loads of people going to the paper saying their club is being difficult with regard to a sale. Didn't Tevez come out and publicly criticise United for messing around with a contract? or is it worse because he named Levy?

I'm not saying it's not unprofessional and that he shouldn't be punished, but eveyone is acting like he's killed someone.

I haven't seen anyone post something like that. If he had killed someone, I am pretty sure the reponse would be different. He has acted like a complete idiot and child, if he thinks that fine but to post it on the same day Phillip Hughes did something similar is just idiotic.

And to somehow turn the blame on Levy when he is just trying to get the best deal for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club rather than yield to the wishes of a spoilt brat is laughable.

Spot on Stoof... That sort of comment just makes me happy to say "Fuck you Darren Bent" go to an inferior team and rot...

As for what the club will do? If its his Twitter account, he will get hit with seriously hefty fines as he has revealed sensitive transfer related information, and if Levy really wanted to be a cock he could just keep him to rot with no game time till January.

Tevez, i thought, handled the situation like a perfect gent,

:eek:mg: I am shocked that anyone could have this opinion

I said that there is not a lot he can do to punish him.

Whilst this may not be strictly true, it is probably more close to reality

but you can't touch him for his business skills. Can't touch him.

Hes had his share of Mr Cock ups at home, His pedestal should not be so high

All in all Bents made himself look a twat(ter) It isn't IMO much more than that.

Perhaps, with the sad passing of Sir Bobby Robson, Bent could learn a thing or two about how to conduct himself.
