I went on to the AV official site to check out more, and they have a page with fan comments. Some of them are hilarious... didn't know anyone could get that excited about Darren Bent!

You're not kidding...

"Can't wait to see Bent paired with Gabby up front. Potentially the most lethal pair in the league, hands down."

can we ask sunderland for ''all the bent money'' like when zenit asked us for ''all the keane money'' for arshavin

lol. keane (mis?)reportedly asked for a wage increase to join brum so maybe sunderland could afford keanos wages now!

Hello Dwayne

Sounds very familiar, except with us he didnt score as many as what he has for you, but i think its down to the fact he wasnt our number 1 penalty taker.

He was a dogs dinner at times really didnt suit players like modric and when berbatov played with him they were on a completly different wave length. Now your club is moving into the higher ends of the league taking that money will be worth it, gyan has more class and skill and if you can snatch wellbeck then thats good. I think maybe even give owen a little spell and he would work wonders despite him previously being a geordie.

You could always spend all your money on pav and crouch and keane im sure we wouldnt mind :)

The number of penalties he scored for Charlton was wildly exaggerated.

So we could get 4m from the sell on fee for Bent, plus sell keane to Sunderland for top dollar? Brilliant.

The sell on clause is 20% of any profit not including add ons, so it's 20% of £8m not the whole £18M or £24M

There have been some real pious posts about how badly Spurs and Harry treated DB, not forgetting his tweets.Sunderland helped ressuect his career, now an offer comes in and he can't wait to jump ship.

Yep.

Very poor play by Bent.

No way on earth is Darren bent is worth £18-£24
Million! Apart from scoring goals he brings nothing to the team! I know that seems quite a stupid thing to say as that's his job as a striker! But when the goals do dry up he doesn't bring anything to the team. Also in my opionon he can play only play in one formation a 4-5-1. When ever he has had a strike partner like berbatov or keane or gyan at Sunderland he has really struggled to form a partnership with them.

Also other thing that slightly surprised me is that he was so keen to go to villa from sunderland! Villa much like Liverpool seem a team in decline where as Sunderland seem to be getting better and are up there challenging for Europe this season.

I don't know that Harry treated him badly (and if he really was offended by the 'My missus could have scored that' he is a bit of a tit), but he was certainly fucked about over the transfer with the on-the-plane off-the-plane business. He was never made welcome nor shown any support by many of our fans, in contrast to the somewhat less useful Pavlyuchenko, and if a guy scores a hat-trick and is greeted by a chorus of 'Jermain Defoe, he's a yiddo' he's entitled to tell the 'fans' to do one, as far as I'm conderned.

All that crap about wanting to feel 'wanted', that he had that at Sunderland and the meanie Spurs fans never accepted him and he immediately jumps ship.

One of my mates, a Sunderland fan can't believe I just agreed with bent that Villa are a bigger club than Sunderland. Bless.

Well, whatever happened up in Sunderland, no-one can claim he was welcomed or given a chance by the majority of Spurs fans, although he did what it said on he tin.

Back in the 50s Sunderland were known as the 'Bank of England Club', as they spent a bomb on players. Trouble was, they weren't the right players.

Yeah, wonder what Defoe's record would be if he could actually score one?

Crazy money for a striker who you have to build a team around for him to be really effective.
