If I went online and started posting scathing comments about my employers, and personal comments about a single person on the board, I would undoubtedly be hauled in and issued my p45, and quite rightly so.

He must be the dumbest of the dumb to even think for one minute that he would not get in the shit about this. What a moron, and he deserves averything he gets. There is no way he will be getting the same sort of payoff he would have had if he had just shut the fuck up.

What a total pisswhistle!

From Sky:

Tottenham striker Darren Bent has sounded his frustration that his future has still to be settled.
The former Charlton star does not fit into boss Harry Redknapp's
spacer.gif
plans and was thought to be on the verge of a £15million transfer to Sunderland.
But the move has stalled as Hull City
spacer.gif
and Stoke have shown an interest, and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy
spacer.gif
is keen to receive the £16.5m he paid the Addicks in 2007.
The delay in sealing his exit from White Hart Lane
spacer.gif
has angered Bent,
spacer.gif
who did not travel to the Far East
spacer.gif
with Tottenham for their participation in the Asia Trophy.
He said on his Twitter page: "Do I want to go to Hull City, no. Do I want to go to Stoke, no.
"Do I want to go to Sunderland, yes. So stop f*****g around, Levy."
He earlier wrote: "Why can't anything be simple? It's so frustrating hanging around doing jack s**t. Seriously getting p***ed off now."
Tottenham board member Donna Cullen told The Sun: "We have put calls in to Darren's agent. We are trying to establish whether the Twitter account is actually Darren's."

 Idiot

Spurs probe 'Bent Twitter rant'
Tottenham are investigating comments allegedly made by striker Darren Bent accusing Spurs chairman Darren Levy of disrupting his move to Sunderland.
A foul-mouthed rant on social network site Twitter purports to have been posted by Bent, who missed Spurs' tour to China for talks on Wearside.
A Spurs spokesman told BBC Sport: "We are yet to find out if this is Darren."
One of the tweets said: "Do I wanna go to Hull? No. Do I wanna go to Stoke? No. Do I wanna go to Sunderland? Yes."
The Twitter account in question was taken down from the service on Friday morning and Tottenham told BBC Sport that they plan to speak to Bent about the issue.
The arrival of fellow striker Peter Crouch from Portsmouth earlier this week appears to have signalled the end of Bent's stay at White Hart Lane and the only stumbling block looks to be his transfer fee.
Sunderland are understood to be be prepared to break their own transfer record of £9m, paid for goalkeeper Craig Gordon two years ago, but Levy will be wanting to recoup most of the £16.5m he paid to Charlton two years ago for the England centre-forward.
And the 25-year-old, who was Spurs' leading scorer last season with 17 goals from 43 appearances, appears to lay the blame for any delay firmly at Spurs' door, adding on other tweets, that were littered with swear words: "Why can't anything be simple [sic].
"Sunderland are not the problem in the slightest."
Speaking on Thursday, before the Twitter row erupted, Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp admitted he was unsure of how the deal was progressing.
"I spoke to the chairman (on Wednesday) but I don't know where he is at," he said. "He was talking to Sunderland the last I was aware.
If Bent does go, Redknapp has reiterated his desire to bring Real Madrid striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar to north London.
The Dutchman had been set for a move to German side Stuttgart last week but that fell through due to his wage demands.
"If you look at his goalscoring record it is incredible," Redknapp said. "If he is available then again he is a player that interests me.
"If any top-class player becomes available then you have to be interested and if Bent does go then maybe we will be interested.
"You cannot have two many good players. Competition for places is what it is all about. Look at Manchester United, you could pick two teams from their squad last year."

Oh dear, Darren.

Now this, this, is how you get yourself fired from a football team (and Roy wasn't even on the way out):

"Mick, you're a liar... you're a fucking wanker. I didn't rate you as a player, I don't rate you as a manager, and I don't rate you as a person. You're a fucking wanker and you can stick your World Cup up your arse. The only reason I have any dealings with you is that somehow you are the manager of my country! You can stick it up your bollocks."

I've followed him for a while, and for the most part his tweets were pretty dull, but this stuff was gold!

It shows a lack of professionalism if nothing else.

That's not analogous. The better analogy would be if you'd just quit your job and posted scathing comments about your soon-to-be-ex employers during your notice period.
Nothing would happen to you, except you wouldn't get a reference. It is an utter non-issue.

It's a lack of respect and it's petulant behaviour, but it's been blown out of all proportion. He didn't call Levy a **** or anything, he just said stop fucking around.

We know what Levy is like......he's different.

Kendall, I disagree mate. He has aired his dirty laundry in public about his employer. this is something that in most professions would be a harshly punished if not dismissable offence. It's just not something that should be done.

If he wants to disclose his frustrations once he's no longer employed so be it, but not whilst he's still employed!!

Incorrect, he hasn't just quit his job. He is still under contract, there is no guarantee he will leave. It's very very different from the analogy you have used.

EDIT: if he hadn't renewed his contract, and was therefore out of contract, do you think we would be talking about 13 million transfer fees?

EDIT2: where did your comment go?

I've heard loads of people going to the paper saying their club is being difficult with regard to a sale. Didn't Tevez come out and publicly criticise United for messing around with a contract? or is it worse because he named Levy?

I'm not saying it's not unprofessional and that he shouldn't be punished, but eveyone is acting like he's killed someone.

He hasn't renewed his contract. So unless he signed a contract vowing to play for Spurs in perpetuity (unlikely, given European labour laws), he is leaving.
In fact, with HR's comments about "we might still have Darren Bent" in Beijing, if there was one move DB could make to guarantee he'd leave one way or another instead of running out the contract, this was it.

Exactly. Tevez riled up the fans to have a go at the board, FFS!

TBH if any player at my club, whoever it was was moaning about the club before being sold I'd be pissed off.

I see what you are saying, I just think it's pissed people off though. He just shouldn't have been doing it. Funny as fuck though...so I'm not complaining

The contract cannot be cancelled by Darren Bent, he has contracted his services to the club and until a) the contract runs out or b) the club cancel the contract. He can't just say he's joining someone else. At the present time he is employed by Tottenham. If agreement isn't made bwtween Tottenham and another club by the close of the window, he is still at Tottenham.

Bit different though - Tevez was directly asked about the situation in front of a few journo's, he had to reply one way or another and he basically just spoke fact. Bent has chosen to chuck his toys out in front of the world, he's the one who's bought this media situation about.

Tevez, i thought, handled the situation like a perfect gent, considering his english sucketh the balls. He stated that he would've liked to have had the chance to stick around at Manchester but he needs to address his contract situation and they were beating about the bush. Whilst it may add up to the same thing, the attitude with which it's handled makes a big difference.

Exactly - so if he wanted to make sure Tottenham would end his contract, he would ......

Oh sorry I misunderstood you. I thought you were saying he wasn't under contract at the moment because he had cancelled and refused to sign a new one...thats certainly the impression your earlier posts gave.

If it's just a ploy to get us to cancel it, it won't happen. Levy will now a) make sure he is sold for the price he wants and b) give him the smallest pay off he can.

He would have been better shutting the fuck up...he was being sold anyway. he's also now got the rep of being a ****!

In your business, maybe.

But unless you are the chairman of a football club currently negotiating the sale of a player, your experience is irrelevant.

What's Levy going to do? Delay the transfer and not pay DB for those couple of weeks? Teach him a lesson by keeping on paying him tens of thousands of pounds a week?

It's not the wisest public statement ever, but Bent has nothing to lose here.

What?

Seriously?

It's not "irrelevant". Football isn't this mysterious world that's completely non-subject to common decency, respect and rules of employment is it?

It's a fucking hideous thing to do. And I honestly don't see how anyone "not being a football chairman" can't have the opinion that he's been unprofessional to the extreme.

He could not transfer him and send him to the reserves and freeze his pay.

He's probably breached umpteen clauses of his contract, which I expect will trigger provisions for the club to fuck him financially and generally anally.

You don't mess with Levy ... he's different you know.

What I'm saying is that for a footballer this is not a huge handicap.
We've linked with Vieira for the past couple of weeks, for example.
