Hopefully we'll hear shortly after whether that's all or not, I don't know if I can do another year of tragically holding out hope until 11pm for that one last signing :barefoot:

Agreed, but let’s not forget that Emerson/Doherty not good enough and we’ve undoubtedly strengthened there. It’s a big step forward…but all that matters really is how Conte perceives the window. He’s happy I’m happy. He’s unhappy then I’m unhappy.

He's a serial winner
He ain't winning fuck all with that defence.
So I can't see him being very happy.

If you told me at the start of the window we would've brought in a clear upgrade to our Starting XI and a player that can provide a spark off the bench I'd be pretty happy for a January window. It's certainly not the shambles some are calling it. If this was the summer window sure but some of the expectations are just absurd.

It's not Saha and Nelson ffs
The player that is providing a spark off the bench replaces a player that provides a spark off the bench
Minimum done that levy thinks he can get away with

Disappointing that we seem to miss out on a CB and that we are leaving it late again. However, I can also understand if the club is reluctant to spend more without knowing if Conte is still here in a couple of months. ?‍♂️

You’re right it’s fairly decent but it’s not enough and so we are left short again as usual and that’s the tiring thing as we know it will come back to bite us.

If we’d added Zaniolo or Hincampie to Danjuma and Porro then it would’ve shown we were serious about competing.

We have the stadium fully up and running now and have record profits and whilst they’re both great signings we basically have made 2 loan signings for a total of approx £10million I believe…is that ambition to give us the squad Conte needs to win? ?‍♂️ we know the answer.

Anyways excited about the 2 signings just wish for once we weren’t left a bit short but here’s to a good 2nd half of the season. ?

The underlying factor I think being overlooked is the availability of a CB we want. There will always be more in the summer. Fwiw I want ENIC out. But what’s the point of signing a CB for the sake of it and he joins the number of players stuck on the wage bill. This isn’t FIFA career mode. 2 signings is par for the course.

It does pose the question why after multiple transfer windows with multiple managers we have yet to identify and pursue players of a higher calibre than Dier, Davies, Sanchez, and Tanganga defensively and let's be honest, Lloris too in recent times.

Yeah I do think that a big January blowout when the manager has only 6 months on his contract isn't the wisest move.

If we were seriously linked to undeniably good, game changing signings, sure...but we werent. Were Zaniolo - an out of form, non-creative backup to our most creative player, and Hincapie, an out of form youngster with 2 red cards this season who has been shifted to left back, really going to transform us?

Porro and Danjuma make sense regardless. The other two...not so much.

Beyond the urge for more bodies and shiny new players, both seem like pretty damn questionable signings to me.

This is the first deadline day in years where we've not had multiple sources tell us it's "all done" around 6pm
If we sign someone other than Porro this evening I'll lob 20 Irish Euros in the pot. You dirty little tease.

The counterpoint is an investment now to secure top 4 would mean in the summer we'd be looking at the top tier of signings (and we have a LOT of squad rebuilding to do). If we're not in CL, it sets us back massively and we need to gamble on lower tier players turning out well.
Getting Champions League has never resulted in us shopping at the top table

If we'd gone for Hincapie earlier, there's every chance we could have got him.
It seems like his club were open to letting him go but ran out of time to get a replacement in.

Yeah - our signings with CL have been worse than Arsenal's without.

CL helps, but since we can't compete on wages with the money clubs anyway it doesn't make as much of a difference as people think. 3 of our best recent signings - Kulu, Bentancur and Romero - were all made when we didn't have CL football.
