What I mean is that a team in the lower leagues taking on a teenager from the PL, it is very clear that the reason they are there is to get minutes, start games and develop as players and as men too…what do you mean "honoured their end of the deal?"
you see it so often though where the stakes involved in the lower leagues mean that managers often stick to the “old reliable” options and you see these teenagers make cameos here and there, and finish a season having only made 2-6 starts and made 10 appearances from the bench.
Port Vale have given Devine every angle to succeed, starting him, allowing him to develop and to make mistakes too! I mean already after half a season of the platform they gave him he seemed to outgrow that challenge and needed a new one.
I can only imagine the conversation between clubs extends to what they expect from the signing club in terms of playing their academy product in meaningful minutes, and from that end, I think PV have acted admirably!
