We should be concerned with our own target which is 4th. I don't know why people are acting like it's impossible. Win this and we give ourselves a chance.

Its not that I see 4th as "impossible" its that I don't see 4th as necessary - and thus won't be disappointed if we finish 5th. This has been a long strange season - and while we have had our sites on a top-4 finish - I don't see it as the difference between a good or bad season. We have made improvements, and we still have improvements to make over the summer.

I will be disappointed if we finish 6th though.

I think it’s really small time to change our approach at home because we are afraid of them. If we lose so be it, but being cowardly because we’re afraid of them is much worse imo.

it’s not being cowardly. Fulham overturned us, Newcastle wiped the floor with us and Luton nearly toppled us as well.

Look at Bayern, had they gone toe to toe with Arsenal they would likely have lost. Instead they altered their approach and despite an injury crisis and poor form they beat them. Competent coaches will alter their approach.

It’s not arrogant at all. It’s a fact. We have been in the highest league in the country probably since before you were born, unless maybe you are 50? I would be pretty sure that 90% of posters on here can’t remember Tottenham not being in the PL/equivalent.

None of the best teams change their tactics because they are afraid of the opposition. I can’t remember Spain, Barcelona, Man U, Man C, Arsenal changing their tactics.

Maybe you’re right about teams like Newcastle and Villa changing their approach. We’ll probably finish above Newcastle this season though.

The best teams always change their tactics based on the opposition. Look at City against Real Madrid, they opted for technical players ahead of the likes of Doku. Against the other top 4 sides they’ll also play Kovacic or Nunes or Stones in addition to Rodri. Liverpool do the same - shuffle the central midfield and/or attack. Unless you’re the equivalent of the Harlem Globetrotters, sticking with the same approach week in week out when you’re not putting in both consistent performances and picking up results is a recipe for disaster. We say about our approach, what we’re currently seeing is nothing like the high press free flowing football we saw early season. It’s now laboured, little to no creation and gaping holes in defence. Early season v Arsenal = good for a draw. Current approach = risk getting mauled.

yep, we need to consolidate our current position. Given our current form, injuries and fixtures we’ve more chance of finishing 6th or 7th than 4th. Whether it be to secure 5th and/or to give ourselves reasons to be optimistic next season, we need to finish the season strongly and not end it with a whimper. Carry on with the same form and not only will be likely slide down the table and blow all our early season hard work, we risk getting played off the park by Arsenal, City, Liverpool and even Chelsea.

We are nowhere near consistent enough to get 4th. It probably went with that Newcastle result and the Villa win put the nail in the coffin.

I'll be shocked if we get any more than 4 points from Arsenal, Liverpool and City. And unfortunately, Chelsea are also capable of giving us a gubbing if we don't turn up.

Could be wrong but I think this style of football will probably produce enough chances to pick up at least some points in those games. That's to say I don't think we'll lose them all with the amount of chances we've created and goals we've scored this season. We are still dangerous to teams who give us space even if we are shambles at the back.

We’re in poor form, missing our best two full backs and have a nightmare run in. Newcastle are flying and have a relatively easy run in. Man U will likely fall short but only have a couple of hard games left.
