Some context:

Pochettino at just under 5 and a half years was our longest serving manager since Burkinshaw in 76-84. The majority of our managers since Burkinshaw have had reigns of between 2 and 3 years. Excluding Poch only two of our managers since Burkinshaw came close to making 4 years in charge.

There’s been lots of disparaging remarks about Mourinho teams imploding in their third season. But if Mourinho has only two ‘good’ full seasons from here (say two trophies and CL qualification) he will not only become one of, if not our most, successful managers since the 80s, he will also be one of our longest serving managers since the 80s. If that turns out to be the case do we call it a “project”?

Thing is, it won't take much next season before all that has happened this season might be forgotten and Mourinho and Tottenham is what everybody talking about. It's a sport of the tiniest margins, and if a few of those iota sized margins go our way, we get off to a good start, have a solid home run and get a good Europa League group, the fact that it is Mourinho who is in charge - everybody will love that. I'm not saying it's all about getting to the start of the season and all will be fine. I'm saying very, very little needs to go right for us to have a very, very fun season.
So let's just get each other through and see just what emerges on the other side.

Unfortunately, I think other factors may seriously affect us in that, with the predictions of an even worse covid outbreak this winter, I really can't see the club being very active in the transfer market, if at all . For once, you couldn't really blame them. Its also pretty unlikely that we will be able to shift the players we want either. Mind you, if there is another long lockdown, next season will probably be curtailed anyway.

Nah, next season will have to unfold more or less as normal. Otherwise the professional sport as we know it will be on its deathbed.

OK you hate Mourinho. You might as well write in each response "You are wrong because I hate Mourinho". It would be as fruitful.
Really? I don't hate him. I rate him. If I were a fan of chelsea, Madrid, Arsenal, Inter or Juve I'd welcome him with open arms. I think he is wrong for Spurs, culturally and could do real.harm to a very disjointed squad.

Ive been very clear on that distinction because it is too easy to be sidelined as simply anti Mourinho in this thread. Saying you're anti Mourinho in here is a bit like saying you're anti Trump on Breitbart. People don't really think if they feel you're criticising them...

If you don't hate him then why don't you just give him a chance to see whether he can do it or not?

Then if he fails we can all band together and join you with your misgivings.

Nothing to do with the formation. It was because arsenal were far more open than a lot of teams we've played of late.

When an organised team parks the bus it matters very little what formation we play if there is little movement from the forward players.

Anyone thinking this tactical change of formation is going to be a turning point for us is going to be very disappointed.
Yes and no, I’d say even against a parked bus having two strikers gives more options when crossing and gives the CB’s more to think about as often Kane be some very isolated when we play 4-2-3-1. It will only work in certain games but it’s a good option to have.

Nah that's far to boring, where's the fun in that? We make premature predictions based on wishful thinking on SC just because it suits ones narrative...agenda before club - never forget that.

You keep mentioning he's wrong for us, culturally.
Over the last 20 or so years, culturally, we're known as chokers...besides one league cup we're always falling at the last hurdle, sometimes playing nice football (although for huge chunks not), but always the bridesmaid and all that.
The fact that he doesn't fit that, culturally, is absolutely fine by me.

Considering the state of our defence, I'd say Mourinho is working wonders at the back. Still yet to see the attack really click, I'd say a lot of the reason for that is that the midfield are forced to hold for the shaky defence. A right back and a defensive midfielder in the summer and we could be a real force again

Spurs after 1990 to till day, is yet to known as a team that win anything ... When you don't win anything, you don't have any culture... After you start winning, you build your culture ...

Among international football fans, spurs is known as "chokers or Ultimate losers" ... Among other clubs, spurs is known " nice club, but don't take them seriously. Just beat them on the day as ferguson used to say."
