He is going to be mainly a sub I think, been plenty of time for Lamela to come good, I am not holding my breath that he will.

He had 7 assists last season. No one else in the squad came close to that figure. The guy is the only lock-picker we have. No one else in the squad can play the type of ball he did against Burnley at 0-0 in the 37th game of the season last year. If he's going to be predominantly on the bench, then a team like Juventus will be all over him, as they rate him highly and need a #10.

Not a fan of the lineup tbh. Lamela I think was top of our assist table last year even though he didn't play for large parts. I'm still a fan of him, he presses well, has creativity and I'm sure he will come good, he can't do that sat on the bench.

Dier as a CM is extremely negative, especially at home. Like him as a CB, can't see him making it as a DM, maybe for emergencies. Is he better there than Capoe and Paulinho? I know they weren't great, but at least it was their position. I'm just shocked that we have let our central midfield get to this. From an in form Sandro and modric to dier and mason.....

He plays the youngest teams in the league, that's the stats.

lets keep playing Dembele as a WF, scores and creates shit loads, a centerback playing centermid whilst 3 centermids on the bench, could this guy get any more negative with his lineups, trying to bore me to bloody tears

Just seen the team and although I try to avoid picking team selections apart, I'm genuinely gobsmacked that Bentaleb has been dropped and Walker keeps his place. I just... wow.

COYS.

Walker alongside TA were our best players against united. No way did Walker deserve to be dropped.

Given our team shape when we control possession starting Dier again makes sense.

ie. the CBs now split out very wide and a DM sits between them when we control the ball.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed that benteleb and capoue did this last season. I've got in countless debates with people on here who insist that we play without a DM

Based on their respective performances at Old Trafford I don't see why Walker starting and Bentaleb being dropped would surprise you at all.

Agree with you. Walker may have had a decent game,by his standards, against man U but what threat does he have going forward? An attacking full back who can cross well is a must in Poch's system. Walker can run fast but 99% of the time does naff all with it, as well as the fact he always makes mindless decisions in every match. Trippier is a much better option.
Neat profile pic you've got!
Yes, exactly. I'm not saying Walker played poorly. It's not always a choice based on "good" or "bad", but based on certain qualities. Stoke is a natural opponent to pair with Trippier.

I have serious relegation fears at this moment.
Relegation of what, though? Who? In where?

Dropping nabil after the first game will do him good.Dont forget the guy played all season last year and the the african cup so a rest will do him well.We really should sign a piro, style old skool DM to play alongside nabil or mason.
