I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed that benteleb and capoue did this last season. I've got in countless debates with people on here who insist that we play without a DM
Naturally we play with a midfielder filling DM duties. It is pure bollocks to suggest anything else. People will see that more clearly when we finally sign a new CM, and it becomes clear what skills we are trying to bring in.

If the Man U game is anything to go by it seems this will be a far more prominent feature this year. Vertonghen and Alderwiereld split out incredibly wide at times. More so than what we saw last year.

I have serious relegation fears at this moment.

Based on their respective performances at Old Trafford I don't see why Walker starting and Bentaleb being dropped would surprise you at all.

mmm

does it suggest he hasn't reacted well in training this week?

What's up with all the whinging going on . Aren't you people meant to be supporters . So support the Fucking team ,if you're a glory Hunter then go and support man utd or Chelsea who buy their way to the top of the table.

Don't worry , we won't miss you.
I proud to support a team that has a tradition of being entertaining. I watch football to be entertained. I'm not a fan or CMs as wing forwards or CBs as CMs. comprende? Very weird post I have to say. Chill out.

Lose today it will be a meltdown in here and rightly so. That lineup stinks of mediocrity. Diet and mason in our midfield is nothing short of woeful.
had us down on my super 6 to score 3 today, saw the lineup and have changed that, poch doesn't seem to like pace, flair or creative players.

Possibly. I suspect that, like others have pointed out, it might be a little reminder from Pochettino that - after last weekend's poor showing - just because Bentaleb has signed a lucrative new deal with us, he isn't guaranteed a place in the side unless he earns it on the pitch. Don't think it's a bad shout myself: whaddya reckon?

The thing is, in Pochettino's system, the front four have to all score goals and create clear cut chances. Mason and Bentaleb scored 1 goal between them last season, and I doubt you'll see Mason and Dier creating much in the final third. This is why Townsend is such a poor fit in this system. He has no end product. I like Dembele more than most here, but as a CM, shielding the ball and dribbling past players. He isn't a creative enough passer in tight spaces to be as effective up front, especially on the right. He has had one good game there in his time at the club (against Newcastle where we comprehensively smashed them), and I think it puts more pressure on Eriksen to be the creative conduit for the team.

I hate it when there's so much negativity before a ball has been kicked. The worst is the reactions whatever the outcome:

Win - Good win, but imagine what we'd have done if we'd played an attacking side.
Draw/Lose - Fucking disaster, I've had it with Poch/Levy/Doris, they haven't a fucking clue.

At least if you're positive at the start, then depending on the outcome it's:

Win - Yes!! I knew it!! Well done boys!
Lose/draw - Shit, gutted, maybe could have done with being a bit more positive there, want to see [insert player] start next week though.

[Edit] On second thoughts, the second example is much too reasonable, probably just put the same answer for both scenarios if we draw or lose.

You guys do realize Pritchard and Townsend literally just returned to first team training and Pritchard was only able to go 45' in a u21 game? Probably not 100% match fit yet. I am alittle disappointed that we dont have Yedlin on the bench as a pacey option, but to be completely honest, this subs bench is probably the best we could muster up given Pritchard and Townsend probably not fit fit yet.
