I really think if we're going to improve from last season, Lamela must come good and become one of, if not our best player in the squad. He can't do that from the bench though. I don't want to see him used in Europa matches predominantly. It's a total waste of the player who created more assists and clear cut chances as anyone in the team.

It is a very negative team selection especially for a home match. As I said, where is the pace and creativity ???
We don't have any pace FFS. You can't complain about something we don't have. That's why we bought N'Jie.

At home to Stoke and we're setting up like we're playing for a point. It's bad enough having a lack of pace in the squad but not using it (Rose) is criminal.

So what minute is Charlie Adam going to take out Kane then?!?!

He's not starting, so depends if they let him out of his pitch-side kennel

Anyway, Mousa is playing in AM - so many people where whining about that not happening last season, so cheer up you lot and stop concentrating on DM

Early thoughts from the ground... Pitch looks gorgeous, good to see Hugo warming up, and the pies are even more thermonuclear than ever!

Dier in midfield again? And both Dembeke and Chadli starting?

That is very disappointing it is like we are saying we are happy to have no creativity or pace

He didn't have a preseason, neither did Pritchard and N'Jie doesn't have clearance yet. We have options to spice up our attacking game that just aren't quite ready but I think we'll see them integrated over the next few weeks.

As for midfield, people can complain all they want about Dier and Mason in midfield but we have no points on the board against a Stoke side that beat us twice last year and are going to come out confident and commit men forward. We need to win the battle in there and the likes of Eriksen and Dembele are going to have to step up creatively.

No pace, no width, no exciting youngsters (bar HK obvs).

Like the guy, but Poch really could use a set of balls with some of these team selections. Look at Reece Oxford.

Given our team shape when we control possession starting Dier again makes sense.

ie. the CBs now split out very wide and a DM sits between them when we control the ball.
