I think maguire one earlier was potentially a pen. Just the fact he's a clumsy oaf allowed him to get away with it. The rico lewis one wasn't a penalty in any shape or form

I've only seen the replays - but the both look like pens to me. Maguire was more blatant - but this involved a kick to the players foot. When you make contact like that, it's almost always going to be a pen.

Its more shocking that Maguire's was not a pen, than it was that this was a pen.

ETA: NM - the replay was a Slovenia pen... wrong game.

This is an abysmal England performance though. I appreciate the changes but still. Awful really.

Don't know if they are just coasting to save their legs. But it's not a great watch.

Will switch over to Italy I think.

What kick to the foot? It was given for lewis' hand touching the north Macedonian players face while heading a ball

Not quite as awful as the Malta performance but it’s really not working at all.

2 moments really stood out for me at the end of the half. Firstly Foden picked up the hall, headed towards the centre circle and then stopped as there was nobody to pass forward to. Then Grealish finally beats his man, gets down the wing and also stops and goes back as presumably there isn’t a ball on to Watkins.

2- Forward, but playing another England player into trouble
3- Cross field, but usually intercepted by the opposition.

The man is a liability.

Beat them 7 nil at home and they don’t have a single shot. No doubt Southgate will give us the ‘it’s a very difficult place to come, they’re dangerous on the counter, we couldn’t overcommit’ spiel. Weakened line up or not England should be winning this comfortably but as we all know, Southgate doesn’t like going beyond first gear.
