I’d say it says that I believe the people that support the idea of Southgate continuing as England manager are clueless about football. Doesn’t say a whole lot more than that really does it…

Fans have never been less interested in watching England play than under him, it’s absolutely awful football. He consistently makes bizarre squad and team selections, hasn’t blooded anywhere near enough of the young defensive talent we have during his tenure (Tomori, Guehi etc) because of his obsession with Maguire. He also made one of the absolute dumbest tactical decisions in a European final sitting back and defending a 1-0 lead conceding possession and giving time and space to a midfield that had 3 of the worlds best technical ball playing midfielders in Verratti, Jorginho and Barella. I’ve been waiting on his sacking ever since that day and it’s not got any better under him since. We would have already won something if we had a manager that was somewhat competent. I will genuinely cheer when he is removed from his post and I’d prefer to go back to Roy Hodgson before seeing him as England manager again, I believe he’s nowhere near the required standard and has consistently shown it over the course of 7 years.
Can't disagree with too much of this. He's an intelligent and articulate PR Manager who represents the FA very well. He's also developed a real bond with England players and they're obviously very fond of him. The big problem is that he's not a very good coach.

The majority of this post is spot on, I just don't like that you feel the need to call people "clueless about football".
It's a phrase too commonly used and is nothing but a cheap insult, completely unnecessary.

I agree with everything else though...well, maybe apart from the Hodgson bit. 😁

I think Southgate has taken us as far as he can and this should be his last tournament. He did get us to World Cup semis and a Euros final, which shouldn't be sniffed at. He also finally got it into the players that whoever is called up it is one group, no cliques, no club loyalties (banter aside) and they all play for each other. Probably the most together I have seen England squads under any manager for a very long time.

Whoever follows Gareth needs to keep that togetherness going.

I don’t disagree but I’m struggling to think who is available to take over who might actually want it and could keep the togetherness whilst improve on tactics?

Tomori sitting there on the bench while road sign starts, must be deflating.

Surely that should have been a pen? He fell into him but it stopped the guy from having a shot and didn’t play the ball at all?
