Financially it probably made sense... Considering his contract length after the loan, his wages for the remainder of that contract, and what we would be able to sell him for at that point.I’m not bothered about the financial implications of terminating Doherty’s contract - could have maybe sold for a fee eventually, but are now saving on wages to a surplus player, so whatever.
The fact we got to this position, however - where we have so many surplus players we can’t even loan them anymore - is utterly, utterly farcical.
