Sadly, I think that money is more important to him than football. He has already earned more than he (and his kids) will ever be able to spend, so he could comfortably go to a club that would pay him only £250000 a week if playing football was what mattered.

I'd imagine he quite likes living in Spain in the lap of luxury and getting paid a King's ransom for doing the odd bit of training. It's sad to see him waste all of his talent but it's his choice and he's chosen money. He obviously doesn't need to earn another penny and his family are sorted for generations. Can't say I'm not enjoyong seeing RM getting striped up so badly though.

adjective

  1. of less than the highest standard or quality.
    "suboptimal working conditions"

Yeah exactly. Playing a right footed centre back at left back would be 'less than the highest standard or quality'. Thanks for confirming my point.

Forget it. Bale is done as a professional footballer. He'll see out his contract at RM and then he'll retire. He's nowhere near as good as he was when he played for us now, and would likely be half-hearted or injured playing for us anyway. Would be a huge hassle and a massive disappointment.

The only problem with your point isn't the vocabulary used but rather that it is predicated on guesswork tainted by pessimism.

I have seen nothing to suggest that Jose would choose as his left back a young, right footed centre back with a handful of senior games under his belt ahead of a marginally younger left footed left back.

Sure, Dennis Cirkin is even less experienced in senior football than the inexperienced Japhet Tanganga. But Cirkin is infinitely more experienced at left back. Jose isn't an idiot.

Fuck em, They go around chucking stupid money at players inflating costs for everybody.

Clubs should keep them eating his wages until the end of his contract.
I endorse this. Same with Arsenal and their now immoral wage structure. It's in place to explicitly make it hard for teams like us to compete for talent. Love it when it backfires.

I've brought the Gareth Bale thread from the last transfer window into the players threads list for you, below this thread.

Please feel free to find the posts you made within that thread to copy and paste into the latest page. It'll make for riveting reading.

Dragon 1 again on COYS

We have tried many times for bale his agent is very difficult , he is on 550-600k a week with a year left and madrid want a large chunk of his salary taken care of next season

Kane and Tanguy on 200 a week are our biggest earners by a long way ,in the current Climate no way we are paying 300 a week plus

someone has to take bale this summer though so will see what happens

also

I don’t see zlatan happening at all , I know a couple of strikers we are looking at , I can tell you now the striker deals we are looking at are £10-20 million with wages in the 50-100k a week bracket
Zlatan! OMG, OMG, OMG.........lol..
Would be amazing, but will never happen for so many reasons.

Good noises in all the ITK so that makes me happy, also cautious with my expectations. Hopefully the majority of this (players linked in the places we need to strengthen) comes to fruition.

Well he's already played tanganga at left back and has a history of playing defenders at full back on their wrong side. Given he hasn't selected Cirkin to play one minute in the first team, I don't think it's an outlandish assumption that he would select Tanganga there. My overall point though is that if Hercules is right and Jose's happy with his options at left back, I think that's a mistake.

If Jose is deeply impressed by Cirkin and has confidence that he is ready for the first team squad - as both media reports and itk suggest - then it isn’t a mistake at all. It’s exactly what should happen, in fact.

We also have Ryan Sessegnon as backup or even first choice LB. So Cirkin shouldn’t have to shoulder too much responsibility.

All ITK seems to be clear on one thing - Jose is well aware of our weaknesses, and appears to be insistent that they are addressed, now.

This, along with all ITK’s suggesting we have clear extensive lists of attainable and willing targets for each required position, seems a key shift in approach. No more placing all focus on only one or two players who are going to be difficult to get.

Jose seems to have a clear idea of where he wants to address, and if I recall previous ITK correctly has identified a number of targets, providing in depth dossiers. Reason to be more positive.

He has also been quoted previously as saying he would intends to use the youth players more, so not a stretch to see him using Cirkin given he’s already been name checked along with White to be with the first team this coming season.

agreed. For all the stick that Ndombele has (rightly or wrongly) received regarding his attitude, Bale's attitude and conduct has been horrid. Yes its Real, yes its Perez (who can be an überc...t), yes their fans are ridiculously fickle and obnoxious. However, his conduct, from lack of integrating into the culture and club to the flag, telling ZZ he didn't want to play...just doesn't sit right with me, especially at time in which Jose is trying to build a cohesive unit.

Im sure someone like Inter Miami will be available for him to continue to "build his brand" after the Real deal has finished though.

Seems like we’re in a sell to buy situation. Luckily we seem to have some decent prospects from sale at a decent price in KWP, Aurier, Foyth, Lamela. Could be about 60m right there. Plus Vertonghen’s decently high wages off the book.

If I’m JM, I’m looking at Lamela as the best option to offload to get one of my targets in.
You think lamela is 30mill

I wasn't suggesting he should come to us, I saying that he doesn't care about playing and so would probably be, as you said 'half-hearted' and a massive disappointment.

Aurier 18m
KWP 12m
Foyth 15m
Lamela 15m

Seems about right to me

This is the same stuff people say all the time. I'm pretty sure they said it prior to him jogging onto the pitch and bicycle kicking pretty much the greatest goal ever seen in a CL final. Man's been treated like a spare part in years so he's missing the spark players need to look great.

Whatever people think about them, the concept of even the slightest chance of Bale or Zlatan in our shirt is paradigm shifting and not to be sniffed at. Will obviously be down to the financials, so I imagine we wouldn't be first on the list, but still...

Not only is it bad form to put images in this thread but that particular image is (probably) from the penalties vs. us in the Cup. :cautious:
