Can we all perhaps agree that getting even a low figure (in our opinions) circa £25 mill from Real Madrid is definitely preferable to £35 mill from an EPL side???

Pretty sure that was the consensus on here last summer when it looked like he might be going to the Chavs - people said then that it would be better for us to sell to a non rival for a reduced fee.

Yes but things change. By which I mean people are fickle as fuck.

I thought one thing Redknapp got criticised for was loaning out all our back-up players?

I can't see VDV playing in the midfield trio - I think that will be Sandro, Moutinho and Sigurdsson. But I can though see him playing right of the front 3 with Adebayor and Bale.

I think the opposite actually, VDV came through an academy where 4-3-3 was the norm, he is very adept at playing in that role and works as hard as anyone. If anything I think we will see Sigurdsson starting on the right, and VDV in the midfield 3 with a licence to break forward.

Will be very interesting to see if we can get a deal for Moutinho sorted, otherwise selling Modric may leave us without a ball playing CM and end this debate completely by forcing AVB to use VDV there to help us keep possession.

Wouldn't be sorry to see Hudd go to be honest. The one 50yd screamer that he scores a season doesn't really make up for the other 100 shots killing someone in row Z or his lack of mobility.

Doesn't really fit AVBs philosophy and hasn't impressed me under previous managers. If we can squeeze a bit of cash out of the porn monkeys then good stuff I say.

So you missed the end of 2009/10 season after Palacios got injured? As well as our CL run during 2010/11?

Huddlestone was in great form for the 15 months prior to him picking up this ankle injury. If he can get back fit and sharp again he'll be a real asset.

Well a nice option to have the possibility of them interchanging between those two position.

You do realise that AVB has said he may name Dawson as our new captain? That's not something you say about a player you are happy to let go.

That was pretty much straight away when he came in and before he had any time to assess Dawson, the press wanted to know who he would put as Captain with King retiring and he he said Dawson was one of the players in consideration - what else could he have said considering Dawson was technically our Vice-Captain for the last few seasons.

Whether or not people rate Thudd isn't relevant IMO.
He's like part of the family here and shunting him off to West Ham is like sending your child away to live with the gypsies.

Indeed, fluidity and comfort on the ball are fundamental to AVB's philosophy.

On the point of Hudd to West Ham, surely a loan move there could be beneficial to us as he spent last season out injured.

Don't like Huddlestone to West ham rumour. Think a CM capable of getting the ball deep from CB's and hitting the flanks with precision is a vital weapon to have. he's unique in his willingness and ability to do that in our squad.

Tom has been so rusty every time he's played since injury that he's gonna need a run of 10+ games to get close to where he was before.

Is he going to get that here?

He could realistically stay here and not play 10 games before Feb.

Hope it's a loan to get those 10 games in earlier...

Agree, Tom's a great player and could be an England regular given a good run of games and injury free season. Hope it's no more than a loan to get his match fitness if true.

Apologies as this is very vague, but Hertyid on COYS (proved to have very good contacts indeed):

visitor at the lodge today

I wouldn't have bothered posting, but he created a new thread just for that. Something is obviously going on.

Don't know if it came across from someone else, but Noodles clarified that West Ham are skint, so likely loan first, with a view to perm, but also says it's very much early doors.

Well hopefully those early doors are slammed firmly shut in West Ham's face.

What if Hudd never scores again for Spurs and his afro becomes unmanageable? I assume that is AVB's deepest lying concern

Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.

Hudd needs games. He will get those at West Ham, he won't with us (until he has had a long enough run to get back to form). A loan makes perfect sense, any Prem club will do as in the end it benefits us more in the long run.
