They've only lost by a goal to Rennes twice. The bulk of their minus 8 GD came v us and we needed Kane, Son and Lucas on the pitch to get it done, albeit in different circumstances under Nuno. We still shouldn't underestimate them. It's cost us once already in this competition. As I said earlier in the thread it's so fucking important we win the group, if we don't we've got an extra two games in February in between trips to Man City and Leeds.

Every player starting Thursday should be showing the same energy as the team that played second half yesterday. If they're not they're out.
Yes but they’re still 6th in a terrible league. I’m sorry but our second team should be able to do a job whilst all trying to impress conte.
Our players looked run into the ground against Leeds… Kane in particular. Would you rather force him to play again and him get injured. We have to rotate and if we lose quite frankly I’d rather Chuck the game against Rennes and go out.
we have to focus on the league as it’s a huge chance now to get top 4. West Ham have 3 hard games including city and Chelsea whereas we have 2 of the bottom 3 and Brentford. We need to focus on that. Kane should not play. Or are we gonna make the same mistakes as we have for years with him, particularly with how demanding contes system is and how much he expects Kane to bulldoze his way through. We have to have him fresh with a weeks rest for Burnley.

They should be able to do a job, yes. Which is why I ended my post saying whatever team is out there Thursday needs to show the same intensity as Sundays second half.

Nowhere have I said Kane should play, or Son or Lucas. All I said was we needed them in the previous game, albeit under a different set of circumstances.

But we shouldn't underestimate them either. Look at how Vitesse performed v us in both games. They lifted themselves because of the opposition. I won't be surprised if these manage to find another gear on Thursday. Beating us would be a massive result.

I'm expecting a big performance from the reserves on Thursday otherwise they may never play for spurs again

i agree, and i hope theyre sent out with the message that this might be their last chance to claim a place in the squad in the New Year i.e theyre all expendable in the Jan window.

This would just lead to each player being terrified for their career and playing as individuals. A recipe for disaster in a team sport.

Thought our fans might have learned some lessons after Mourinho but clearly not...

Dont see that the two are mutually exclusive and judging by the messaging last week from Conte himself re Tanguy, dont think he does either!

Use a rotation team in the first half and change it up if needed early second half with players from the match against Leeds when Mura get tired.
If we are winning comfortably, let some of the younger players have a run out.

Certainly a game for the recent non starters to try and earn a spot in the first team. Sanchez has a point to prove, as does Rodon. I’d like to see Dele out there with a bit of aggression and cheekiness to his game. Ndombele can show what he is capable of, and should really destroy his opponents in this game. Bergwijn also, should be well ahead of the other team. So, it’s a good opportunity for those and more, but we’ve been here before and they’ve let it slip. Can Conte fire them on enough to show him they are worthy?

With Scarlett out injured, it leaves us a bit light on strikers!

Gollini
Sanchez Dier Rodon
Doherty........Skipp .......Sessegnon
Markanday...... Ndombele.......Gil
Dele
Then have Kane and Son on the bench just incase! Should still be good enough to win, just need to hope someone in that team can hit the back of the net in the game!

In my view, up until the arrival of Antonio Conte Harry Kane has looked uninterested and unfit since the beginning of 2021. Yes he looked shattered at the end of the Leeds game, but to my eyes that was because he had put himself out for the first time in ages. Unless he has an injury which hasn't been reported, I would have him starting against Mura to build up his match fitness now he has seemed to belatedly rediscover his enthusiasm.
Furthermore, although he clearly tried against Leeds and played some nice passes early on, he didn't look at all sharp to me in goal chance situations. The Harry Kane of up to late October 2020 would easliy have had a hat-trick in the Leeds game. On too may occasions against Leeds he just wasn't sharp and alert enough.
But that's just my opinion.

I'm not having this Kane tired stuff. If this was an International week he would be playing. It's not exactly gonna be a taxing match for him, he bagged a hatty from the bench against this mob!

Don't take liberties with these teams, get them put away then rest players. Nuno's mess ups away from home in this competition have left us with no room for error now. We have to win both remaining games regardless of what happens in the other match tomorrow night because we need to finish top and there is no scenario possible that we can do that without winning both of our remaining games unless you delude yourself that Vitesse will not beat Mura in the final match week.
