I think we have to go strong tbh. Get it put to bed and then sub off the big players there are still five subs allowed yes? So it’s not like we need to run players into the ground.

I think right now, our players need as much game time as fitness will allow, just to get into playing this system. The only players I would rest would probably be the wing backs as they are playing the most physically demanding roles in the team, and possibly Hojbjerg as he seems to play every minute and I think his form is suffering as a result.

I have no issue playing a largely 'B team' as long as they come out with the fire/intensity that Conte always demands. The problem has been with Nuno in these away games that we have picked the squad/bench players and they've come out and plodded about in 2nd/3rd gear. Even our second team playing a full heavy metal, man to man intensity should swarm all over these guys. Its a real test of their ability to raise their game and give AF again.

Conte has to play them to learn if he can trust them or not, they're professionals so the 'must win' nature shouldnt matter if their attitude is right, if it isnt then they're gonners and we gain something either way.

If we can't play a healthy group of youngsters for this match then what's the point of even being in this competition. Sure play a few senior players for experience since it's an away trip but they've scored two goals in 4 matches....

Hugo
Tanganga, Dier, Rodon
Doherty, Winks, Skipp, Sess
Gil, Kane, Dele

With the intention of bringing off Dier, Skipp and Kane after an hour if possible.

Ouch man.

Did Skippy sling one up your sister or something?

What's he done that's made him deserve to do the work of 3 men.

Fair comment that. My logic is that right now Winks is clearly preferred to our other CM options apart from Skipp and PEH. It'll be Skipp and PEH at the weekend so giving Winks another chance to impress seems logical.

Personally I'd rather Lusala play at RWB if we're resting Royal as Doherty has shown nothing, but clean slate for all and all that :)

We need to win our group to avoid the extra round of games after the group stage. As such we need to go pretty strong for this with options on the bench if needed. Would like to see at least half of yesterdays team on the pitch to start with

Lloris

Sanchez
Dier
Davies

Doherty
Skipp
Winks
Sessegnon

Moura
Kane
Bergwijn

Only thing I would change is Dele for Bryan unless Bryan is still really not match fit. Would also contemplate Bergwijn at RWB

Best way to accommodate Gil and Stevie would be a 343. Something like below.

Gollini
Tanganga - Sanchez - Rodon
Doherty - Ndombele - Skipp - Sessegnon
Bergwijn - Kane - Bryan Gil

I'm no fan of Doherty but I get the impression Conte want's to get a look at all his players in a competitive setting, so he can see who rely on or potentially upgrade on in January/Summer.

I had to danny the internet to find out where the fuck Mura is. Should be interesting to see who goes.

We also have the luxury of 5 subs, so this a chance for other players to convince Conte that he can depend on them.

Mura and Rennes might be the last chances for a few of them. Could also be the first chances for some of the younger players.

I’d like to see Dane Scarlett play in a system that will furnish him with some supply for once and a chance for Markanday to get at least half an hour. Other than that we can rotate most of the team anyway against this mob.

They've only lost by a goal to Rennes twice. The bulk of their minus 8 GD came v us and we needed Kane, Son and Lucas on the pitch to get it done, albeit in different circumstances under Nuno. We still shouldn't underestimate them. It's cost us once already in this competition. As I said earlier in the thread it's so fucking important we win the group, if we don't we've got an extra two games in February in between trips to Man City and Leeds.

Every player starting Thursday should be showing the same energy as the team that played second half yesterday. If they're not they're out.

Seems that Harvey White ( 2 goals) and Dilan Markanday ( 2 assists) both had good games today vs Leicester for the U23's. I can see them making the bench vs Mura.
