Friedel
Walker Gallas Dawson Vertonghen
Sandro Dembele
Lennon Sigurdsson Bale
Defoe
Subs: Lloris, Caulker, Smith/Naughton, Huddlestone, Dempsey, Townsend, Falque/Adebayor
I'd start Dawson over Caulker, we need experience at the back. Dawson will be more settled than Caulker and will want to prove something.. Vertonghen at LB regardless of whether Naughton is fit or not, Naughton will be caught out defensively and Vertonghen looks equally good on the left as in the centre.. Dempsey over Sigurdsson for me too, as he played a part in our 2nd half resurgance v QPR.

I think the Sig v Dempsey debate is as important as Friedel v Lloris debate, if we dominate the midfield we can take control of possession, which is vital at Old Trafford. I will choose Sigurdsson just because he looks (marginally) to be more competent at passing and holding onto the ball in the centre than Dempsey.

Defoe has not guile or intellegence to thrive against the top defences. Getting the ball on the edge of the area and blasting it against a good defence or keeper is futile.

So the three and a bit games where Dempsey hasn't really done or offered much (apart from a goal that was wrongly ruled offside) is enjoying better current form than a guy who assisted one and scored one last night, played a vital role in the opener against Reading and other than not scoring or assisting in other games has looked good?

Well, when you put it like that I look a bit stupid!

Lloris; Walker, Gallas, Caulker, Vertonghen; Sandro, Dembele; Lennon, Dempsey, Bale; Defoe.

Looks a strong team to me. Would be happy with a point. You never know though, we might get the bit of luck we need.

Our record is a disgrace at Old Trafford, had to get that off the chest. Not really expecting anything tbh.

................Friedel
Walker Gallas Caulker Vertonghen
Sandro Huddlestone Dembele
......Lennon Defoe Bale

Subs:Lloris Dawson Sigurdsson Falque Townsend Smith Dempsey.

If AVB could get Bale and Defoe to rotate that main striking role against ManU, I really believe it will be a master stroke

Brad Friedel is a model of consistency hence 300 odd consecutive games. He won't lose form nor have a howler.

AVB will have to bite the bullet one day if Lloris is to be number one and simply say the Frenchman is the future.

It wont be vs Manure this weekend though.

I think you over rate Dawson. But, that argument's been done to death, suffice to say if AVB had wanted him as an option for this kind of game he wouldn't have tried to sell him in August. AVB's plan for the season is to have Kaboul, Gallas, Vertonghen and Caulker as fourth choice. Dawson will get a game if we can't call on the second, third or fourth choices.

Who do you want Gylfi or Dempsey?

I originally chose Dempsey, then changed my mind. Neither have shone, I would usually pick Dempsey due to having the greater goal-threat, however Siggy has more technique in terms of passing and dribbling from what I've seen so far so I'd choose him as this a game we won't have a hat-full of chances and will need players who are good on the ball (Dempsey was poor behind Defoe against Lazio).

If AVB manages a win at OT, as far as I am concerned he has a job for life!

Seriously though, surely even our fickle fans (the idiotic boo'ers) and to a lesser extent the press, would get off his case, at least for a while.

Big opportunity to galvanise our season and send out a message!

Lloris.

Walker. Caulker. Vertonghen. Gallas.

Sandro. Dembele.

Lennon. Dempsey. Bale

Adebayor
(Defoe if n/a)

RVP is their best player and is playing through the centre. Vertonghen is our best defender and therefore should play centrally to compensate.

Caulker - 2.5 games. 0 goals conceded.

Lloris to start, his distribution means we retain possession and thereby takes pressure off our defence.

A JOB FOR LIFE IT IS!

AVB Life Peer!!!!!!!!!
