So, now on to the big one! A stern test for the AVB revolution.

I'd like to see:

Lloris
Walker Gallas Caulker Vertonghen
Sandro Dembele
Lennon Dempsey Bale
Defoe
What I think we'll see is:
Friedal
Walker Gallas Caulker Vertonghen
Sandro Dembele
Lennon Dempsey Bale
Defoe
Just Friedal in for Lloris from what I'd choose probably. Can't see Siggy getting the nod for this one ahead of Dempsey, on current form, though he played well enough last night.

At this point and with current available personnel Verts at left back is a good option, good at attacking down the left getting dangerous crosses in when Bale goes wandering which is something Naughts won't do being right footed.

Also Caulker provides another goalscoring threat. He seems to have real knack / skill at attacking corners.

Think the team picks itsellf this weekend due to injuries at the back.
I think we need Vertonghen at LB to offer the team much greater balance. Naughton did well defensively but was very limited going forward on his left foot.
Caulker has looked calm and composed, and will have played in plenty of big matches last season for Swansea so a trip to Old Trafford shouldnt faze him, its not like we are throwing a rookie into the team and hoping he can handle it.

I presume Adebayor wont start (if fit) and Friedel will maintain his starting berth either until injury, suspension or loss of form allows Lloris to get in.

Defoe wont trouble Ferdinand & Evans enough on his own so will need plenty of support, its one worrying area for us.
And another is the threat of Rooney & Van Persie at the other end.
Other than that, we are better them all over so I expect a close, even game with the usual mistake from us or the officials to gift UTD their match winning opportunity.

I still have this funny feeling that Lloris will start against Man Utd. Its just the way that AVB said that Lloris will get his chance "very" soon. Its a good game for him to come in. There won't be as much pressure on him as a home game against one of the "smaller" teams. He plays against teams of similar ilk in the Champions league. I think the time is now. Him not being picked yesterday was "the calm before the storm".

One "insider" on twittertwatter claims Lloris will play, I would be happy if that is true! :)

Oh yeah, the team selection:

Lloris
Walker - Gallas - Caulker - Vertonghen
Sandro - Dembélé
Lennon - Dempsey - Bale
Defoe

I want to see Lloris play. World class keeper. Won't be fazed by Old Trafford. Come on AvB, make it happen.

Should be imo
Friedel
Walker Gallas Caulker Verthongen
Lennon Sandro Hudd Dembele Bale
Defoe
Pack the midfield as that is where united are weakest, keep the ball as much possible and look to beat them on the break out wide with our pace. Would play Adebayor up top on his own if he were fit but im not sure he is.

Hoping for this, couldn't choose between Lennon and Dempsey, hoping for Lloris to start but I think it will be Friedel.

The same guy said we'd sign Andy Carroll all summer, so pinch of salt required.
Hope he is right though. Friedel is a great shot stopper. BUt limited in other ways. If us fans can see that then hopefully the coaching staff can too, or they are doing something wrong.

So the three and a bit games where Dempsey hasn't really done or offered much (apart from a goal that was wrongly ruled offside) is enjoying better current form than a guy who assisted one and scored one last night, played a vital role in the opener against Reading and other than not scoring or assisting in other games has looked good?

Lennon has to start. He tortures Evra more often than not. Lennons threat going forward will restrict Evra's attacking impact on the game.

If AVB manages a win at OT, as far as I am concerned he has a job for life!

Seriously though, surely even our fickle fans (the idiotic boo'ers) and to a lesser extent the press, would get off his case, at least for a while.

Big opportunity to galvanise our season and send out a message!

Lloris.

Walker. Caulker. Vertonghen. Gallas.

Sandro. Dembele.

Lennon. Dempsey. Bale

Adebayor
(Defoe if n/a)

RVP is their best player and is playing through the centre. Vertonghen is our best defender and therefore should play centrally to compensate.

Caulker - 2.5 games. 0 goals conceded.

Lloris to start, his distribution means we retain possession and thereby takes pressure off our defence.

Has to be Lennon, he always gives Evra the runaround (if Evra starts due to his shocking form) . Dempsey to play instead of Siggy.

Gallas up against Valencia, for me is a no go.

Can't believe people are picking Lloris ahead of Friedel. Area you completely forgetting that he practically kept us in the game last weekend and got us a point against Norwich?
