It definitely won't. We could well lose our first game under a new manager trying to instill new ideas in a squad that is used to the same voice for 5 years. I'm not expecting miracles from day 1.

He intimated that during his press conference quite a few times that they won’t play like he wants with his principles from match one. That it will take time.

Am I the only one who (whisper it quietly) actually doesn’t really want Mourinho to change?

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want him poking opposition coaching staff in the eye, picking feuds with club doctors or calling our players fat ***** in public.

On the other hand, I don’t want him to turn into mr respectful, nice guy either. Not because I don’t admire that in a person, but because that is not him. He needs that edge, it’s part of what makes him successful and lights fires under players and gets under the skin of the opposition.

Just wait until he's in the heat of the battle - most of the old characteristics during match play will re-emerge. Doesn't mean he cant be a little more controlled and less combative outside of matches and apply all the self analysis he's undergone in the last year though as a way of changing and improving

Not sure if any of you in England are familiar with Mario Rosenstock. But we're about to get a whole lot more coverage from him which is only a good thing.

But what we should see immediately is more effort and intensity.

I think we'll win Saturday.

Great press conference. Really did sound like he’s seen the error of his ways from past clubs.
He didn’t blink when he got called Mauricio as well

What's also encouraging is that throughout his career he's got players at around 30 years old to find the best form of their careers. If he could get a resurgence out of Jan, Toby and Rose, that would be enormously helpful.

I just watched the press conference and still don't know how I feel. It's like when someone does something for you that you really dislike, but deep down you know it's probably good for you. I'm not positive or negative to this new chapter. Maybe 'hopeful' is the best way to describe it?

Well...yes. But that's not entirely relevant to be fair.
Of course it's relevant. You said his success has been built on spending lots of money. My point is that money doesn't buy success. You need something more. Otherwise PSG and City would win everything every year. And they don't.

Mourinho didn't spend fortunes at Porto, and he won the CL. This success took him to clubs that always spend tons of money: Chelsea, Madrid, Inter, United. Of course he spent a lot at those clubs.

It's gonna take a while for me to get used to it. Seeing him in Spurs branded clothing doesn't sit well for me.

It's like Skeletor marrying into the family and you have to get on with him.

PSG and City do win things most years.

Money in football absolutely does buy success. It's crap but it's true.

And of course the real worry, taking the 'money doesn't buy success' mantra, that was very much true in Jose's last job.

But either way, he's going to need to do more coaching than buying and he hasn't done that since Porto.

I will say that whilst I dislike Mourinho and have a lot of misgivings about his appointment, his press conference today was very good. If we get sophisticated thoughtful Mourinho rather than spiteful megalomaniac Mourinho that's a good start.

I never said they didn't. I said they don't win everything every year. If money was all that matters, then they'd have won the CL by now with their limitless funding. They haven't. Because you blatantly need something more than deep pockets.
Money in football absolutely does buy success. It's crap but it's true.
Again, I disagree in absolute terms. It of course helps, but you need to spend it well, and you need good management.
But either way, he's going to need to do more coaching than buying and he hasn't done that since Porto.
Agreed.
