I know much has been made of the boring football but anyone here think he might change up his game?

Redknapp wasn't known for his fast-flowing attacking football, but he's giving me the best football i've ever seen at Spurs.

The appointment just pisses over the philosophy we have been pursuing for years. Do we really think mourinho will play the attacking football and bring youth through.

This move stinks of panic.
It's not panic, it's a calculated gamble. And you win nothing if you don't take them.

Whether it works or not I honestly don't think you can blame DL for trying to get a grip on the situation. The board are paid to take the difficult decisions. Something had to be done, if you don't think that then i'm afraid you're just delusional.

If you ask me, sticking with Poch even for the next month was just as much of a gamble if not bigger.

He's not here to play pretty football, he's here to win.

Levy isn't gonna pay someone £15m a year because he was panicking, our current standing as a club now is to win some silverware and who better at doing that than Jose?
Winning is not everything. Remember 1-0 to the arsenal? I support spurs because of the attacking football philosophy and the identity. If winning was so important we would have all started supporting manure years ago.

I'm ready to fully embrace the dark side of the force, to hell with being a Jedi! We're going from a riddle speaking Yoda to full on Darth Vader.

When young Anakin was at Porto he had the world at his feet but he was obviously corrupted and turned by the Sith Lord Abramovic. In hindsight I think the real Sith are Emperor Joe Lewis and Daniel Levy and they've been biding their time hiding in plain sight while waiting for this moment as they've continued to build an empire!

I wasn't suggesting keeping poch. I believe we should not abandon our identity chasing trophies. Have courage in our philosophy and get a manager who could continue the amazing work poch had done over the last 5 years. We had finally got an approach that worked, the first sign of trouble levy abandoned it

Lets give this winning malarkey a go though shall we? We can always go back to not winning in a few years if we don't like it.

Tell that to the likes of Kane and Son who have won f-all as players, you want to carry on with that attitude fine but then don't be surprised when they up and leave citing lack of ambition.

I don't know about you but I like my team playing excellent football but there has to be an end goal for me, there has to be a crowning moment of glory for your efforts otherwise what's the point?

Let's be fair to Jose, he had a similar approach in formation at Madrid to what we had.

Our best line up was:

Lloris
Walker Alder Vert Rose
Wanyama Dembele
Eriksen Dele Son
Kane

or you could argue it was when we dropped son and went 3-5-2 with Dier coming in. Both are pretty defensively astute.

You compare that to Jose Madrid line up. which he went to the Camp Nou with and won which was:

Casillias
Ramos Pepe Carvalho Marcelo
Alonso Khedira
Ozil
Di Maria Benzema Ronaldo

That team ended up breaking the record for most goals in La Liga and record points. To say we're abandoning the philosophy is a little unfair when we haven't given him a chance. He's proven he's willing to play an attacking team when he has the players to do so. We have proven we played quite a defensive midfield under Poch which allowed our attacking players to do what they do best but there was many a half where we just passed the ball around for 45 minutes and didn't add to our scintillating first halves.

It was a really good press conference with a mix of arrogancve and humbleness with humour. He seemed happier but as we know happiness could turn very quickly but he seems refreshed, reinvigorated and above all he is too smart not to change his ways from his stint at Manure.

Cant wait to see him in action but lets be honest if results dont improve quickly the media will start challenging him further and that could impact on things - theyre ****s like that

Absolutely agree! I want us to be shithouses, bastards, hated... All those things, because then you know you're doing well! Oliver Holt said something along the lines of "Spurs wont be a team that's admired anymore"... GOOD! I don't want us to be admired or nice or "doing it the right way", I want success, I want trophies, I want winners!!
Years ago I thought we’d got a bit of a stronger mentality. Dier’s “we hear what people say about Tottenham and we don’t like it” after we’d beaten Man c 4-1 showing a bit of siege mentality, The battle at the bridge and Poch going off at Mike Dean but then we retreated back in to our shells & became soft again.
At the Emirates after we’ve beat them 0-2 with Dele in full wind up mode I want José to run on the pitch and plant our flag on the centre spot a la Souness. I don’t care if anyone likes us anymore, fuck em.

Levy hired Poch to manage us through our period of austerity, it was a success, it worked, we've outgrown it, we've now moved into a new era. Our club and squad are now primed to win, Levy can back the new man financially to help us win. I'm sure Levy wanted Poch to make it work and was prepared to back him as he did this summer and these last few months he held firm before he sacked him but it was clear to everyone that Poch's time was done.

To be honest I don't think Poch's football was that great. I loved the way we hounded teams and the way we counter attacked teams, and at times the interplay and changing of positions from our front 4 was stunning. When we really got going we were great to watch. However at the same time, it always bugged me that we played to such a rigid system and we sort of play telegraph football where it felt like I was watching training drills half the time. You could predict the movement of the players and the balls they would play,. But then football is deceptive. I always wish we played more on the ball and passed it around but we always had 60% possession, but it never felt like it. It doesn't matter really when we were winning but when we struggled it was painful at times to watch. But I guess that may be true of any football being played.

Football was pretty good under poch but it wasn't really champagne football that say Ajax play (now that is a great footballing side) and that spurs fans want. I think fans mostly responded to poch's passion and one team mantra, the added steel and mental strength, the shithoursery of our team. We were mean and stood up. Aggressive. Fuck me that Leicester season and the following season we were so good.

Poch's and Mourinho's game stats at Utd are really similar, similar number of shots, goals, points etc.

It's a bit bizarre ... some people on here are making out it was like when George Graham became our manager and we ground out 4 consecutive 0-0s with some really dour football. Jose Mourinho teams tend to score a lot of goals. Sometimes, especially away from home in games against top 4 and big European teams, he plays not to lose. The rest of the time he just tries to win. The Madrid side that broke the la Liga scoring record, or his first Chelsea side that did similar here, they were both exciting teams. Poch' 2016-18 side was also exciting. Best away record in the league, best goals for, best goals conceded. Poch's 2-19 team, with the same players, was far from exciting. Mainly as we didn't win many games. If Mourinho wins 2/3 of our games this season, it will be exciting.

Exactly. I’m honestly fed up of Spurs supporters and their bullshit about “The Tottenham way” . What Tottenham way? The way that has got us 0 trophies in 20 years, whilst our big rivals like Chelsea etc are winning stuff left, right and centre. I’m honestly fed up of it. We finally have a serial winner in charge who hates losing and won’t accept failure.

problem is we haven’t had attacking football for over a year now, we have been pretty horrible to watch for ages, so at the worst we are likely to be winning more games and still being bored, at best, well who knows, but I’m certainly ready to find out.
