I know the boss want Moutinho more than anyone, but cant help to feel an offensive player in the Isco/Sneijder mould is what we need the most. Seeing as our only two goalthreats atm are JD and Bale we need another player to supply some goals and challenge Lennon for his spot.

Atm we are just one bad injury on Bale away from looking very mediocre!

Couldn't agree more. We need a playmaker who also carries a goal threat.

I've already said it in another thread. Both Isco and Demba Ba instead of Moutinho for me.

Younes Belhanda and Isco would be quite a haul. Not too unreasonable as well (apart from actually luring them to WHL) if could manage the sales of Huddlestone (seems pretty realistic and should have some interest) and quite honestly we might be selling Benny as well.

Recall Rose and the squad could shape up like this:

---------------------------- Lloris ------------------------------
Walker ------- Kaboul ---------- Vertonghen ------- Rose
---------------------------Sandro ------------------------------
------------- Dembele ----------- Belhanda -----------------
Isco ------------------- Adebayor -------------------- Bale

It's fun to rosterbate.

Would be more than happy if we lined up like that after jan. Looks so potent in attack, and rose is currently in good form so I would be ok with us selling Benny to finance some goal threats/creativity in attack.

I have no idea why in this hypothetical scenario Belhanda, who has only ever played in Ligue 1, gets to waltz into the starting 11 at the expense of Lennon, one our best and most important players this season.

I have no worry about Belhanda assimilating into a PL side. If anyone would need time, it'd probably be Isco, who would actually be the replacement to Lennon. Belhanda's a ready-made talent, there's no doubt about that. He's got a lot of experience in Ligue 1 as well.

Isco has a bunch of praise, but he is only 20 and has 49 total appearances in La Liga. Belhanda on the other hand has 107 total appearances with 23 goals and 12 assists. Isco's on practically the same pace of earning appearances as Belhanda in that Isco is 20 and Belhanda is 22.

Undoubtedly Isco would come here to start, but in my mind he would take a little more time than the also young but very experienced (and also very talented) Belhanda. Belhanda would essentially replace Dempsey/Siggy or our 2nd striker. Even that won't be easy, but in thinking what the lineup could be by February/March, it's not too unreasonable to see Belhanda and Isco with the Lion's share of time.

While I am liking this team I think just Isco would suffice for me and develop our younger players better, it was funny because Graham hunter was talking the other day and was saying that there where still bargains in Spain not just your Isco, Matt and Carzola's. He said players of the quality of Carzola(who was a very late bloomer by the more eager standards today) where in the lower division if clubs where willing to develop these players and that got me think about Falque and Cebellos as well as some of our homegrown's have looked great in U21's a bit of development and we could save ourselves a lot

I would loan Falque to Malaga if were to sign Isco and see what happens and this team for the rest of this season would be top class team imo, playing a 4231 hybrid

I haven't really heard/read much on Isco, is he a true possibility for us? It seems that we are interested in a bunch of others before him (Sneijder/Moutinho/Eriksen/Pjanic).

Long post I know but here
They were willing to sell in the summer to pay their bills and it was said they wanted around £12million and now they want the Buy out clause at least, as they seem to be keen on a new contract for more money's. Also the main interest has come from Manchester, I don't think he will go to another club in Spain as Malaga want to compete with them despite the terrible situation atm and selling to the rivals does not help this. Isco also is a Malaga fan who said he will leave if they need him to. Malaga have just received money from Uefa from the CL qualification and currently appealing their ban for next year but that money will go to the clubs whom they owe money to. The players and staff have not been paid but CL footy is keeping them upbeat, if they dont get CL footy next season and Pellegrini leaves or even if they do get CL footy and Pellegrini leaves it will be a mass exodus of players, it seems.

Man City are rumoured to sign him ever since Txiki joined and rumours say they are willing to loan Isco back to Malaga for the rest of the season. Man Utd are also after him but they are filled for that position as are Chelsea. Arsenal according to papers in Spain are about to make a £16mill bid for Arda Turan and most top clubs in Europe are surprisingly stacked in AM position, so like Sneijder in a way he doesnt have many options. Even RM and Barca have loads of AM, PSG want to sign anyone who is willing. I think he will end up City bound but i hope we can nick him, we certainly have a chance despite what many believe
As for Isco ITK seems to say that he is a Sherwood target who was scouting him in August, is he gettable, imo yes but we need to act fast, will we get him, I think he will end up at city since we seem to after others like you said, personally I would rather have Isco first but Sneijder and Moutinho are better atm but he would develop at the right rate to be able to go in to our first team and improve with time whilst offering things we need and not be a weak link at same time

Nice one A&C:

ISCO (20, midfielder) Malaga
This outstanding playmaker has been one of the stars of the Champions League this season, and Malaga have continuing financial problems.
A host of interested clubs including Tottenham could take advantage of the club's situation.

Let's hope there are legs on this one :joyful:

yeppers, to lose the quality of VDV (and modric) without replacing at least one of them with that level of quality leaves Spurs in a poor position to chase CL footie. Isco plays the right position and style, let's see if he's the right level of quality. I think he may fit the bill, but I've only seen him play twice...

I think we need him or Willian more than we need Moutinho at the minute.

he is strongly linked with Chelsea this morning

It's the same as them being seriously being linked with Willian - doesn't make sense.

They already have three amigos and a good alternative in Moses. Also Marin is at the bottom of the pecking order.

Lampard is leaving but they haven't been linked with a proper replacement.
