UEFA ban Malaga over debts

Malaga have been banned from all UEFA club competitions for one season due to outstanding debts.

The Spanish outfit is one of nine clubs to have had sanctions levied against them following a meeting of UEFA's Club Financial Control Body.
Manuel Pellegrini's side will be prevented from entering the next European competition they qualify for and could face a further season's absence unless the club settles its debts.
Malaga, who are due to face Porto in the last 16 of this season's Champions League, have also been fined £244,000 for breaching UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations.
A statement on the UEFA website read: "Malaga is excluded from participating in the next UEFA club competition for which it would otherwise qualify in the next four seasons (i.e. 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17).
"In addition, Malaga will be excluded from a subsequent UEFA competition for which it would otherwise qualify (in the next four seasons) if it does not prove, by 31 March 2013, that it has no overdue payables towards football clubs or towards employees and/or social/tax authorities."
Five clubs are facing a three-year exclusion unless they can settle their outstanding debts by 31 March; Croatia's Hadjuk Split and Osijek, Rapid Bucharest and Dynamo Bucharest of Romania and Serbian side Partizan Belgrade.
Another Serbian club, Vojvodina, and Ukrainian side Arsenal Kiev were handed fines while a case against Polish side Lech Poznan was dropped.

Their wording is fucking awful, they make it read as if they're banned for four seasons.

We live in a strange world. Racism - slap on the wrist, overdue player salaries - banning and big fines.

I believe they are banned from the next uefa tournament, should they qualify for one within the next four years

We can try, but of all our vaunted targets Isco is among the most unlikely imo. I can't see why he'd be interested in joining us now. Most of the biggest clubs in Europe will want him after the form he's shown this season. We wouldn't even present much of a step up from Malaga (they're still in the CL this season afterall) and wouldn't be able to offer him astronomical wages.

In likelihood he will end up at City or Real. Probably in the Summer.

Agree with this but it'd definatley be worth meeting the buy out clause to see if he would come to us, get in early and try and convince him before bigger fish get involved. I know buy out clauses don't count to foreign teams but Malaga would probably accept it as that's all they'll get for him from Barca or Madrid

Or maybe PSG or (less likely) United. I'll be extremely surprised if he joins any club outside of those six.
I dont think he will go to another spanish side. I see him going to one of the traditional giants of italy or france

Left this one too late, might have had a sniff in the summer but I would be amazed to see it happen now.

No way were Malaga going to part with both him and Cazorla in the summer.

Why we didn't snap him up in the summer I have no idea. Missed out now IMO.
No way were Malaga going to part with both him and Cazorla in the summer.
They were willing to sell in the summer to pay their bills and it was said they wanted around £12million and now they want the Buy out clause at least, as they seem to be keen on a new contract for more money's. Also the main interest has come from Manchester, I don't think he will go to another club in Spain as Malaga want to compete with them despite the terrible situation atm and selling to the rivals does not help this. Isco also is a Malaga fan who said he will leave if they need him to. Malaga have just received money from Uefa from the CL qualification and currently appealing their ban for next year but that money will go to the clubs whom they owe money to. The players and staff have not been paid but CL footy is keeping them upbeat, if they dont get CL footy next season and Pellegrini leaves or even if they do get CL footy and Pellegrini leaves it will be a mass exodus of players, it seems.

Man City are rumoured to sign him ever since Txiki joined and rumours say they are willing to loan Isco back to Malaga for the rest of the season. Man Utd are also after him but they are filled for that position as are Chelsea. Arsenal according to papers in Spain are about to make a £16mill bid for Arda Turan and most top clubs in Europe are surprisingly stacked in AM position, so like Sneijder in a way he doesnt have many options. Even RM and Barca have loads of AM, PSG want to sign anyone who is willing. I think he will end up City bound but i hope we can nick him, we certainly have a chance despite what many believe
