Not sure if it’s being touched on but you have to play the ref in these games too. He turned up willing to give Barcelona every foul and freekick possible. How we got 5 yellow cards in a game that wasn’t dirty was unbelievable.

I’ve been saying this for 3 years and we still don’t do it. We have to act differently in these games than the PL if we want to succeed, I hate it, but we need to exaggerate fouls/nonfouls and put pressure on the ref at every turn. I did see Kane doing this in fairness but nobody else. We did it in the Redknapp CL season with good effect.

The amount of foul throws that Barca got away with was ridiculous- one of which lead to a goal. I don’t for one minute blame the ref for the loss, we shot ourseleves in the foot over and over again, but it was a very biased display from him.

Madrid were shit in La Liga last year but still won the Champions League. Domestic league form doesn’t always translate

The issue I think people on here are correctly concerned about is that as a team we are and have been so so poor compared to the other teams in the PL who had as many players who played at the World Cup. You can’t possibly ignore that can you???

Poch is making very obvious mistakes and the players don’t look happy. We were arguing amongst ourselves against Barca for Christ’s sake. That is not a good sign when you look at our poor form and Poch’s super awkward post match interviews where he’s clearly fibbing when he says he’s proud of the players. He knows we’re poor too - but he doesn’t know how to stop it and it is showing more and more.

Re.Hazard, Sarri has had the luxury of being able to bring him back slowly, plus he's the only player of theirs who went that far. You keep making statements that hold no water such as saying that Pochettino was lying when he said he was proud of his players. To say he doesn't know how to stop it just reveals your mindset. Also, the argument amongst ourselves trope relates to one incident between Toby and Trippier. When faced with a force of nature like Messi, the best laid plans can be a mess.
Your biases are very transparent. Why don't you tell us what you really think about whether you still want Poch at the club? Why don't you and your other middle-aged mates tell us who you wish was still in charge of the team?

Poch talks about being brave and having belief... He's talking about us as much as his team. We ARE at that level now, and we have to believe it. What we're discovering is that staying at this level is even harder than getting here.

Yes we did beat Madrid surprising everyone by topping the group unbeaten it was a fantastic experience, but I wouldn't say we matched them as at 2-0 they backed off and thought we were toast they even hit the post twice so let's not dress it up.
At the moment we are a bit away from last year's team with players out of form or doing stupid things and the team also looks a bit of a mess if I'm honest, but can we come back to how we were yes of course but I think this season will be tougher as evidenced already with the club possibly going out of the CL by Christmas which is a shame.
All is not lost the club sits fourth In the league whilst looking slightly disjointed but if they keep plugging away then who knows what they can do or where they can finish even if it's unlikely that we can finish higher than where we are now.

No, and it shouldn't. Anyone who was there on Wednesday saw why he is one of the best footballers of any generation. He was astonishing.

Good points. While we’ve stuttered on the field we’ve eked out results. I thought our second half performance against Barcelona was the best of the season. Still a long way to go but top 4 is imperative this season

I thought the ref was poor, not stirctly biased but poor and they played him like a violin, at one point at 3-2 they had a throw in delayed it with an injury and then when the player got up they all just walked away, the ball just sat there on the line for 20 or 30 seconds without a single one of them going near it and he just stood on the other side of the pitch waiting, not to mention the occasion when their player went down with a broken leg and three cracked ribs, received treatment and then got up and took the free kick, since when does that not require the player going off until called back on? Ok no big thing ordinarily but it showed how he had lost cntrol and just seemed out of his depth.

Why would that piss you off? At one point I did clap something Messi did. I wanted us to win and I sang and shouted as much as anyone, however it doesn't mean I can't appreciate good football from other player and teams.

Yep, I'll do some lines about Messi. Every time he faced our goal, even it it was 50 meter from it, and someone, somewhere made a run aiming to get behind our backline I got the sense of dread that I normally only get when someone is more or less through on goal. Because that guy seemingly sees everything, and can hurt you just as much from the half way line as he can from five yards.

One time when I did my usual routine of wasting time by browsing youtube, I ended up watching a 20 minute video of Messi playing defence splitting passes. Only after finishing it did I notice that it wasn't a video of his best passes of his career so far, it was a video of his passes in one particular season.
