Was a given with how easily they tied up Alvarez. Would love to know the behind the scenes values of their transfers. Commentators always buy the party line and call them bargains etc... 🤑
City spent over £50 million, the most in the PL on agent fees in the 2022-23 season.

Along with the astronomical wages they pay, the transfer fees appear relatively low.

I'd hazard a guess that there's darker arts and ways to distribute funds for those in the position to, too. 🤑

Can't find a suitable thread for this question in the transfer forum as the scouting thread is locked, but who should we want to try to pry away from Inter if financially they really are this bad?

Barella springs to mind. Anyone else?

Looking at their squad without any real knowledge of who they are, Lautaro Martinez and Bastoni are the 2 that stand out.

They have a very old squad, can’t be a lot of market value for many of them.

Maybe a few 1 season stopgaps are possibilities.

Lautaro is the obvious one aside from Barella, he's one of the most deadly strikers in Europe this calendar year. His numbers are crazy and he has really coming into his own as one of the best strikers in Europe.

TBH need to see how this pans out. Supposedly FFP have been putting a lot of pressure on them but i think we need to wait until more info comes out before assuming there will be a fire sale. Everything was pointing towards them renewing contracts (including Lautaro's) and making a few, all be it very low value, moves in Jan.

I must admit I would take Martinez all day long, Wouldn't be cheap but our forward options would be exceptional.

Marcus Thuram is another one who has been fantastic this season as has Dimarco who's pretty much been the best left WB/FB in the league this season. Also scored a wonder goal from the half way line. Anyway, will be interesting to see how it plays out. and if there is any truth to it. They are most certainly the best team in the league this season and have a very high chance of winning it imo. Things would have to be seriously bad for them to consider selling anyone major at this point.

He's a weird one. I remember Wolves buying him for a record fee (record for them or record for a player his age or something) and it just hasn't really happened for him at all.

Lautaro is probably one of the most underrated striker in Europe IMO. Phenomenal player who has gone up a level this year. 17 goals in 23 games including 15 goals in 16 league games. He presses like a monster, is deadly inside the box, has incredible spacial awareness and is excellent at drifting into a defenders blind spot. I get that he isn't the fastest but he has steadily been getting better and better each season and has been constantly good except for a few months barren spell when Inzaghi first joined. He's still got his best years ahead as well. He loves Inter tho and they love him so I struggle to see him going anywhere unless things where really really bleak. His current contract runs until 26 so they still have time. Like i mentioned they were supposedly close to agreeing a new contract of 10 mil, his current deal is 6.5 mil but if the above report is true then there is no chance they can go ahead with that.

I don't know what the avid watcher of him would make of how good he is but he's been awful almost every time I've seen him.

That was a peak Jorge Mendes move. He absolutely did Wolves dirty over this player, probably insisted on them doing it for him to continue to bring them the good players as well.

Heard this all before. They had x amount of time to bring in y amount of money when we were interested in Bastoni and Lautaro. Nothing happened and they carried on as usual.

He will put up big numbers in that league. Good player, but like Gil for us, he just looks a bit lightweight for the PL!

I think the only thing which plays on my mind with Lautaro Martínez is his horrifying World Cup, plus poor showing in the Champions League final.

That said, he's proven he can do it in both the Champions League and Serie A. Would really suit our system, too.

Barella and Martinez are the best players, Thuram has settled very quickly too.

I'd be surprised if anything happens though.
