Another win for Scunny yesterday, but the real highlight was the woman selected to be referee. Had an impeccable game, and the players behaved themselves throughout. Just encouraging to see.

This is seriously excellent news. An example of what serious ownership looks like:

An update directly from the Board…

As a Board of Directors, we are ecstatic to announce that we have exchanged contracts for the purchase of Glanford Park.

All week Southend were expecting to see the visit of leaders Chesterfield called off as Southend had 3 on international duty. Take into account Southend only allowed a small squad of pros as they've been under a transfer embargo for the past 18 months Southend only had two subs against a team who were unbeaten in 13 ganes, winning 12.

Over 8,000 at Rootz Hall to see former Northern Ireland hero Will Griggs give the leaders a first half kead.

Second half goals from my cousin"s son Jack Bridge and an own goal soon afrer gave the Shrimpers a morale boosting victory.

A sense of up yours from the crowd to the National League from the joyous support.

COYS Come on you Shrimpers!

Barnet would have had a chance to gain some ground on Chesterfield but played like a pub team and got dicked 2-0 at home by Gateshead.

Gateshead looked absolutely brilliant at times. Kyran Lofthouse, on loan from Barnsley looked great. I was particularly impressed by Gateshead head coach, Rob Elliott who seems to be in the Ange school of not compromising on philosophy. He said that he didn't like the way that his side switched away from their normal passing game in the last few minutes and would prefer to concede than compromise.

I find that attitude very strange. Surely the point of the football match is to win it?

Short term pain (losing a match) for long term gain (instilling a way of playing that will have long term benefits and mean you win the league).

Or something.

Yeah, it is a little strange for me. It seems the way of playing is becoming more important than the result.
That's fair enough. I feel like it's very much a subjective argument. I love the philosophy but at the same time, one cannot impose it as a belief on others.
