Squad has a decent balance to it with maybe 4/5 non HG moving on soon and Sarr and Udogie taking 2 of those spots when necessary. We can look at 2/3 non HG incomings if it all pans out.

Next year replace Perisic, Dier, Lloris with Sarr, Udogie and a centre back (who hopefully we get in Jan).
The we should be in position to just replace one for another in other positions.
Need to bolster the homegrown for when we get back in Europe though. Naming 3 keepers in there is crazy. Phillips, Scarlett and Devine still a few years off needing to be registered. If we really were ambitious we would have just spent the money on Gallagher not worrying about selling a midfielder. We didn't need to sell to buy more homegrown.

Bloody hell we've only just signed Johnson and Soloman is just finding his feet but people want to talk about a player we haven't even been linked too and the window is closed

Or maybe not being obsessed about transfers all the time. The window is closed, we have plenty of youth to develop under Ange. At least lets see how Gil, Johnson, Kulusevski and Soloman all devlop over the course of the season. They're all early 20s and people still want to let their mind move along to the next signing. Is it enthusiasm or just patience?

Yeah this is a thread about the registered squad and I'm simply responding to it. That's not the same as posting about players we're not linked with in a thread about a player who just signed. I've simply commented how the squad is shaping up. But yeah nice try

Adding a centreback is about the registered squad? Okay...

Its about the registered squad yes and the fact we registered players who are not in the managers plans. Everyone knows we need to replace Dier so I havent said anything we dont all think. You're scraping the barrel here.

Ange has been saying throughout the window, we won’t have 2 non home grown goalkeepers - I guess he might be a bit miffed that he will have to backtrack on that.

I think it will be an easy one because he'll say that we had the space because the younger players showed they were possible options.

But yes, someone will definitely ask him that

When you see the squad written like this.
6 or 7 of the non-HG we have tried to move on in the last year.
HG~ only 2 quality IMHO
U21- Only one really in the first team squad.
We can only hope for no more injuries

Makes sense to fill every available slot even with players who are not in the managers plans or suitable for the style of play. There have been plenty of instances in the past where clubs have had to field makeshift defensive , midfield or forward positions because of extensive injuries/suspensions.

Strange take.

Forster - very decent option for backup keeper who most seasons shouldn’t get much of a look in.

Austin & Whiteman - only need one of these going forward but 3rd keeper should always be HG and CT.

Davies - very good squad player IMO, will be had to find a HG player that is happy sitting on the bench a lot but still 100% committed to the club and capable of doing a decent job when required.

Sessegnon - will go once he’s not injured but no-one is buying a player that’s just had surgery.

So that leaves 3 proper first team level players:

Skipp - excellent rotation option for midfield and will be vital when AFCON comes around in January.

Maddison - best No.10 in the prem right now.

Johnson - just signed the lad and he has a very high potential.

I think you’re getting a bit confused about the purpose of a squad, it’s not designed to be 25 first team players.

U21- Only one really in the first team squad.
Eh?

Both Sarr and Udogie are first team players.

It also seems like Phillips could have a path to first team football this season under Ange, having made the bench already.

A nice reply.
I wasn't including backs in my acessment.
Forster and Davies are OK for backups short term (I like them both).
3-4 gk both unproven and not for me
Johnson and Madds the only two Id like to see with Skipp well down the pecking order

U21 you are correct I should have said 2

It's nice to get a positive response
