Last update: 14 August, 2 departures including Joe Rodon on loan to Leeds

I thought it might be useful to have a complete list of all the players who would need to be registered in Spurs' PL squad, plus all the youngsters who've been mentioned as possible first team squad members under Postecoglou. I've also included notes about their current status - most of which is well known, of course.

A few notes - Udogie and Sarr don't need to be registered within the PL squad due to their age. Also, unlike UEFA competitions, the Premier League doesn't make any distinction between association and club-trained for players - they're just home grown. And I know we have this discussion every year, but Eric Dier isn't home grown despite being English as he trained for most of his youth in Portugal. Ben Davies is home grown, as he came through at Swansea, which is part of the English league system.

In terms of numbers as of 14 August, I've counted 44 players in the table, of whom 13 are under 21 so don't have to be registered, making 31 senior players. We know some players have to leave or go out on loan as the PL squad is a maximum of 25 senior players and while we won't be registering 5 goalkeepers, we have a very bloated squad as of today - No surprise that we're trying to get up to 7 players gone, then, according to our resident ITKs.

That 25 senior players must include 8 home grown players - assuming Forster and one of Whiteman/Austin will be registered, we have 8 outfield home grown players, including Brooklyn Lyon-Foster who admittedly seems unlikely to see much time. If we don't have 8 home grown players, we can't name a 25 man squad - but that could mean younger players get given minutes, so it's not the be-all and end-all.

If I've missed anything (or anyone!) please let me know.

Can see Austin and Whiteman both going unless Keeley goes out on loan. Midfield will depend on PEH potential transfer. Sanchez, Regulion, Tanganga and Dier to move on or made available for transfer. Parrott permanent transfer, Scarlett loan to D1 or Championship.Would like us to have two u21 on the bench regularly especially with no midweek European fixtures.

That table is really useful but the alignment is all over the place in mobile view.
I wonder if there's a way you could insert it as an image rather than as it is now

I suspect Harvey White will be finding pastures new seeing as we have a Craig coming through

Works okay on my tablet but the forum dictates table + individual cell sizes. I'll see about putting up an image of the same info too.

As far as home grown goes Forster, Davies, Skipp, Maddison and Kane seem highly likely to be in the squad making 5. Spence could be number 6, a 3rd goalkeeper number 7 meaning need to sign one more or keep one of Sessegnon, Tanganga, Rodon, Lyons-Foster, White or a 4th goalkeeper like last season.

Great thread!! I Think aiming for 25 players plus those under 21 is too many though.

If we assume we want 2 for each position plus 3 GKs that’s 23. With no Europe that’s more than enough first team players plus add a few academy guys if needed.

we also should include sar, Gil & udogie in the 23 as they need to he considered senior players or else sent in loan.

Humble attempt to make squad.
Register 24 players.
Scarlett, Alfie, Sarr and Udogie do not need to be registered.
2 new CBs.
Homegrown in italics. We should have no issue to have 8.

My attempt at a realistic 25 man squad, ended up with 24 and enough home grown players

GK: Vicario, Forster, Whiteman and/or Burton, not sure who is better, (Keeley U21 perhaps)
CB: Romero, Dier, 2 new hopefully
RB: Royal, Porro, Spence
LB: Davies (Udogie U21 to start)
6: Bissouma, Skipp, White maybe
8: Betancur, Ndombele (Sarr U21)
10: Maddison, (Devine U21 perhaps)
LW: Son, Solomon
RW: Kulusevski, Gil
ST: Kane, Richarlison

Best XI something like, although of course Bentacur misses the start to the season.
Vicario, Porro, Romero, New player, Udogie, Bissouma, Betancur, Maddison, Kulusevski, Kane, Son.

Good thread, @Majick

Assuming we sign 1/2 CBs, my squad is as below.

Assumes we sell/loan out/ release:
- Lloris, Austen &/or Whiteman
- Reguilón
- Sanchez, Rodon and Tanganga
- White, Højbjerg and Lo Celso
Perišić
(A lot of players still to shift, some easier than others!)

I think the toughest decision Ange needs to make is at right back. I can't really see a world in which Porro, Spence and Emerson are all in the same squad with no Europe. I know some have said Porro can operate as a RW but still feels a bit like a square peg in a round hole to me.

If I were Ange i'd want a lean squad such as the following:

Vicario, Forster, Whiteman or Austin

2 of Spence, Emerson and Porro

Tapsoba, Romero, Van de Ven, Japhet

Udogie

Bentancur, Sarr, Skipp, Bissouma, Maddison, 1 of GLC, Ndombele, Devine or a new CM

Bryan, Solomon, Kulusevski, Son

Kane, Richarlison

Perhaps you could loan or sell Gil and use Porro at RW, but I think Gil would be a better fit on that side.

Like this.

Would like us to keep Reggie and sell Davies as relying on Udogie as first choice LB all season is a big gamble.

Also for added HG option add Craig to the squad as one of the CM’s.

Was thinking through the links this morning to Gallagher and for me personally I really like the depth idea of:

Bentancur/Gallagher/Sarr - Maddison/Lo Celso/Devine
Bissouma/Skipp

I think Bentancur could use the first months of the season to allow himself to get back fit. Sarr can hang around and try to seize his opportunity. If that spot becomes crowded by January, maybe we look for a loan then or reassess.

Maddison's position seems pretty locked down, but it seems GLC is impressing so far this preseason. Think this position would be absolutely stacked, but with Gallagher's versatility, rumors of GLC wanting out, and no European comps - this may be one we have to compromise on which is a shame. If a youngster like Devine doesn't head off on loan then it may be helpful for him (or a youngster) to fill the spot.

I like the idea of Bissouma being the CDM in this system and Skipp fighting for time against him.

It's a lot of work for Bissouma to get through as a 6; feel like if PEH leaves (which looks likely now), we need a proper 6 to replace him, not Gallagher (who I like a lot and would be fine, but seems to be a Bentancur replacement)

Any time Udogie is unavailable, the only option is a left-footed CB who has occasionally played LB (people seem to be massively overstating his experience at LB in his player thread). If Udogie + Romero / Tapsoba was unavailable at the same time, we'd be forced to start our 4th choice CB, because our 3rd choice CB is busy at LB. I'd much rather have Davies at LB over Van Der Ven and at CB over Tanganga (possibly over VDV too, after seeing his recent calamitous error in pre-season). If not Davies, we need another LB in the squad. Three fullbacks is simply not enough - fullbacks were often the first players to be replaced with fresh legs under Poch, and that could well be the same with Ange's offensive, pressing system.

Think we need a top quality preferably experienced left back. Big ask to assume Destiny will hit the ground running and Davies just isn't suited to the position anymore and sessegnon is injured/useless

GK - Vicario 17m
CB - Tapsoba 50m
LB - Cancelo 50m
CB - Tosin 10m
CB - Phillips 3m
CM - Maddison 40m
CM - Gallagher 40m
LW - Solomon (free)
CF - Muani 80m
Total: 290m

Sell/release/return: Lloris (free), Dier (7m), Lenglet (return), Rodon (7m), Sanchez (13m), Sessegnon (12m), Tanganga (7m), Perisic (free), Winks (10m) Hojbjerg (30m), Danjuma (free), Ndombele (14m), Lucus (free), Gill (20m) Kane (90m)
Total: 200m

Net Spend: Misely 90m

25 Man Squad

Subs: Forster, Udoghie, Tosin, Emerson, Skipp, Gallagher, Lo Celso, Solomon,

Appreciate the effort you've put into this, but I always find these kind of posts just weird. The fantasy football thing is just not realistic. It's easy to assume and assign values for players but there's no basis in it. Doesn't mean that's what we'll end up buying and selling for.

It's never as simple an answer as people believe.

Not only that but far too many people totally forget that Tottenham NEVER solve every issue in one window.

I reckon we will fall short on a Kane replacement and may only get one CB plus Phillips.

There is always an excuse and there will be one this time.
