Burnley are holding firm to their 40m valuation on Tarkowski who has 2 yrs left on deal.
Chris Wood going to be similar numbers or more, he has 3 years left.
I cant see us willing to spend 40m+ on Wood. Unless Wood kicks up a fuss, can't see it.
Also most ITK/rumours indicate we looking for loan + cash deal, which wont happen with Burnley.

Can't imagine we'd sign Wood within a couple of days. Burnley wouldn't like to sell until they have a replacement in or lined up at least. Don't even know who they've been linked to.

Jay Rodriguez also limped off injured last night against Millwall, so he won't be cheap.

Would we change the Alli chant to

"We've got Wood....."

Or would Morning Glory be a better tune?

Exactly, it's why Milik seems the most likely because it's probably more straight forward.

Yet then AG says we've cooled our interest.

I’ve got all het up by the links to Vinícius, Sorloth and Wout, but Wood still would be fine by me. His record in this league is good, more so when you consider the side he plays for and that he isn’t a lone striker so has to compete for his goals. He’s obviously not a glamorous signing but he would be effective and I’m not going to get hung up on the aesthetics as I think he’ll do the business.

All that said, given the Tarkowski situation, I don’t see Burnley parting ways with him for anything other than a huge fee and I don’t think we’d pay it.

Wood may not be as exciting a signing as Milik but he is a very good player and I think he would do really well for us.

Honestly haven’t seen the guy play, what is he (Milik) like?
From what i've seen very good all round footballer, can pass, lethal left foot, strong finisher in the air. Good inside and outside the box. Seems a very different type of player to wood.

Milik is in a different class to this guy
38 goals in 98 across 4 seasons in Serie A for one of the top sides v 35 in 95 across 4 seasons in the premier league for one of the lesser sides suggests otherwise. Milik is just over 2 years younger which works in his favour, but Wood is HG and premier league proven. Milik seems a more technical player (bit of a Kane-lite) but Wood is a beast physically.

To my mind there’s very little between them, and if it comes down to a choice I imagine it’ll be whoever is cheaper/ which deal is more doable, both would be on my B list personally given that we’ve had some genuinely exciting links lately, but equally either would be as good as is necessary.

In my plebistine opinion obviously.

Yeh, Milik looks a much better all round footballer to me. Stats can only take you so far. I think Milik would be a better fit.

Nationality has nothing to do with whether a player is considered "home grown" or not. Wood arrived in England when he was 17, and therefore spent enough of his development years here to qualify.

Eric Dier doesn't qualify as home grown for similar reasons.
Gotcha. I've no idea mate, just asking. (y)
So its all bollocks lol.

Can't imagine those valuations will hold. Burnley must be bleeding money, they were having problems before the summer IIRC.

Wood is a proper agricultural "plan b" type player. I would say if we want to play on the counter milik would be better to release our pace merchants with through balls.

Like has been said they are so different it's not really a good comparison.

He’s obviously decent, but why better?
Off top of head: better first touch, better outside of box, better awareness, better long range shooting, better movement of the ball, more pace, better linking up with other players, better at picking the right pass at the right time, better dribbling. Overall a better footballer. Obviously, Wood has his strengths.

I think they'll sell one player for top money and WHU have been in strong for Tarkowski (sp?) for ages and I think it will be him. I'd be fine if we got Wood and we do need some HG bolstering, but I think Burnley will tough it out.

I don't think it will be that move though. Can't see WH paying that (unless they sell a player themselves) and Tarkowski won't want to go.
