Off top of head: better first touch, better outside of box, better awareness, better long range shooting, better movement of the ball, more pace, better linking up with other players, better at picking the right pass at the right time, better dribbling. Overall a better footballer. Obviously, Wood has his strengths.
i typed out a point by point response but ultimately there were too many I disagreed with/ too many other important objectives of this signing I feel you neglected so deleted, we’re quite far apart on our views (yours being that Milik is the better signing, mine being that there’s not much to choose between them), so it’s not really a worthwhile discussion.

Suffice to say I’d be equally happy with either, you’d much prefer Milik.

I would prefer Milik. Doesn't mean you have to delete your opinion as to why you would be happy with either. Having a different opinion makes it more worthwhile.

I'm with you. I think that Milik is a bit overrated on here and that in reality the difference between them isn't that big. Especially for this league where one is already quite comfortable.

Prem proven, Homegrown, battering ram, good finisher.

Not the best we could do but would definitely be an ok option and would fit Jose's style quite well.

I just hope if we did sign him that fans wouldn't write him off immediately or be overly upset because his name isn't exactly exciting. He knows the league, good finisher, HG.

Actually this is one of the better options I have heard. If we are looking for someone who can just drop into the side and do a job Wood fits the bill perfectly.

I thought Jose went for mobile strikers? The recent strikers mentioned (Millik, Wood & Wout) are not the Drogba-esque striker that I was hoping for. They are all decent in their own way, but I was hoping for faster, stronger and more skilful strikers.

I think he has pace in other positions off the striker, with Bergwijn, Moura, Son and Bale. What he is looking for is a presence up front, who can score, hold the ball up and is also quite mobile.
Chris Wood is a decent player, but Milik has a better overall game. He can score all types of goals, short and long range, as well as set pieces. Wood is mainly going to score in the box and rely upon the service provided provided by others.
Milik would be the better option. However of Edouard is an alternative, then even better.

Oh it’s more that it’d have been a pointless interchange on very subjective points ?

He would be a good option. Obviously a huge talent like Edouard would be ideal but failing that Chris Wood is a better weighted gamble than many we have been linked with

It’s all about who we sell or able to sell before we can starting pushing our interest up in the forward and centre back areas.

If for example we were able to sell 2 non-homegrown players out of say Gazzaniga, Aurier, Foyth, etc gives us opportunity to go and get Skriniar and Milik or any other name we’re in the mix for. However, if we say could only sell a homegrown player like Rose, we would probably then go for someone like Wood.

Or another example, we sold 2 players, one homegrown and one non-homegrown, and we wanted a Centre Back and Forward as our next priorities. We would balance our decision on preference of the combination we could get i.e Wood (HG) and Skriniar (NonHG) versus HG Centre Back and Milik (or other NonHG)

As Mourinho says, it’s a jigsaw puzzle on players leaving and their homegrown status, in determining how we fill these from positions we want to fill and their homegrown status.

I've said it before but I'd prefer Wood over a number of options we've been linked to.

He can do it in this league for Burnley, so there's less risk imo. 29 in December so not exactly in the same category as your Edouard and Dakas though

For info Zealand is in the Netherlands I think

Zeeland is in the North of the country yeah. Dutch explorer Tasman 'discovered' most of that area, but he didn't get his own island named after him until he was in the ground for a few hundred years.

Funny when you see some of the names of places people 'discovered' or 'settled'. There are a few funny names in the Algarve - might be a little 'Birmingham' there IIRK. I often don't link 'New York' to 'York' for some reason.

Wood for me, of the two, not seen that much of Milik though but the ITK about him wanting 150k pw certainly put me off
