What I would give to have someone like Chiesa on one of the wings for us, someone with dynamite to blow open this game
For me Kulu is a big blank spot on the wing. Without an overlapping FB he just doesn’t look comfortable. I know he’s a hard work and not even criticising him as a player I just don’t like him on the wing in this system.

If Porro actually played as a traditional right back, I'm confident he can play passes in behind that are there to be exploited.

Maddison has almost made a couple of great passes but aside from that he's been guilty of holding on to the ball for too long. Bissouma with a couple of really shaky moments back there. They're working on the counter, so Biss giving the ball away or playing his centre backs into trouble is not what we need.

Positives: Johnson looking lively, VDV being VDV, full backs been ok.

Downsides: Not aggressive enough going forwards, Bissouma starting well then regressing, Maddison having a poor game. Romero seems to have been sedated in an attempt to stop him kicking people.

Villa/Emery have definitely found a formula and have the quality to get the better of Ange’s tactics.
Ange wont alter his tactics, but can he find an answer to this puzzle?
Surely right now, Villa are more likely to get the breakthrough.

Romero's passing has taken a nosedive lately. What is he doing?
He was put in a difficult situation by a poor pass from Bisouma and had to stretch to make the pass. Bis has made a few sloppy passes, needs to concentrate.
We are clearly the better side and we need to show it better in the second half, I think we will.
Villa playing for champions league football with lumping it up the pitch. Oh by the way, I can't stand McGinn.

Saying the same thing most weeks but we look poor. We don't seem to create anywhere near the amount of, or the quality of chances we were earlier in the season. Most of our goals are coming when we are down or just throwing everything at them.

Appreciate it takes two teams to make games entertaining but we are really not clicking and our own play is tedious and sloppy. I suppose its down to fitness and familiarity and we just need to play through it.

Pundits are awful aren't they - "Watkins should go left, to use his speed". VDV much quicker than Romero, but sure.

Our players trying their best to hand them a goal by stupid mistakes and passes. Most of the chances for Villa from our own mistakes mainly Romero & Bissouma.

Almost sounds silly but I think I've started tuning out a bit whenever we have the ball.

Think I'm getting into the habit of picking up my phone or putting the kettle on whenever we get the ball.

Another 45 minutes of 70% possession and one shot (that wasn't really a shot, Johnson was clearly trying to cross it).

We seem to be the most boring possession based side since Luis enriques Spain.
We are just adapting.

Earlier in the season we had more space and teams were trying to attack us.

Teams now know they can't beat us that way so have narrowed the centre. It'll take time before we become effective at beating it and looking deadly again.

I believe it will become fun again.

Pep had loads of critics first season for the same reason.

The following season they became the best and most exciting team to watch as they just crushed everyone.

We’ve been alright, no shots though

Udogie, Johnson, Micky really good

Romero, Maddison useless, need to improve. I don’t trust Bissouma, something off about him for me

We have to be tacticaly smart in these games, we have to play a bit back in our half and invite pressure. Villa is more than comfertable just sitting back and countering, like every other team we play, and it works.

The 10-20 % missing from Maddison and Bissouma is a gamebreaker as the transition from those two was so good at the start of the season, now they both have a sloppy touch and uses 2 seconds to long every time, it makes a lot of difference.
