I remember similar hype about Blondel, he was supposed to be the next big thing to come out of Belgium and he was an unmitigated disaster, I would be more in favour of Lukaku if he came out of a credible league.

Totally different players though. Blondel, although a good player was deemed too small as a kid but managed to shine in the belgium league. Them premiership was far too aggresive for him so he flopped. There's always a chance that Lukaku might flop, but it certainly wont be because he's not strong enough.

If Connor wickham can bully them gooner center backs, Lukaku will rip them new bumholes.

This guy is mature for his age mentally, physically and has a great family behind him. I believe that we are the best club for him and he's the best player for us.

I think the qualities of a good scout is to be able to identify transferable skills in a player from the league/standard of football they currently play to where you would require them to play.

Anyone can see a guy playing week in week out against the same opponets you have and have a pretty good idea of how well he might fair for you.

To be able to spot a talent in a league of lesser quality and see things about his strenth, touch, techinque etc that make you believe he would be able to reproduce his form for you in a tougher league are the real skills.

David Moyes and his team of scouts have been very successful at this taking near unknown players and players in lesser level teams (even Cahill was only playing Championship football at Millwall)

If we had been after Lukaku for any period of time I would expect our scouts to be able to assess the level of gamble he represents based on his attributes regardless of the opposition he is up against (he has played in Europe and at International level too for some variation)

£20m plus for either him or Carroll seems like madness, but this is world football now. We as a club are just behind the top tier clubs so cannot buy the 'sure thing' players, whatever we do it is going to be a gamble of to some extent as if it were not no doubt bigger fish than us would snap the player up.

Let's face it as this stage no one is going to pay £25m for Carroll, but then if some how he does go on to be the new Drogba Chelsea,Utd, City whoever else will all be after him and paying bigger wages and fees and we would struggle to compete.

So huge gamble though it might be, if our people have determined he is the one for us (and I will conceed they are better judges than me who suspect him to be a mid table team striker) the gamble might have to be made

Whoever our main target is it will no doubt be expensive and carry a large level of doubt.

There is so much talk of Suarez/Hulk/Fabiano/Rossi right now.....could it be that we have an actual smokescreen?

Twitter is sad enough as it is. Why the fuck someone would then be even sadder and pretend to be someone else is completely beyond me...

Just because I like to pretend I'm Michelle Wie and flirt with old men, it doesn't mean I'm a sad fuck. It means I'm lonely and sexually confused. And I like skimpy little golfer skirts. And I want to be half Korean and go to Stanford. So fuck off*.

*don't really fuck off

Well, the claim is that its fake, but who knows.

And if it is fake the tweet about him going no where and committed to Newcastle was also fake (but strangely this tweet has now been removed).
