Well Chelsea will just throw money at him and also it gives Nice more breathing room. This always felt like one too tricky for us but it is a shame as he’d be perfect for us. I can understand why he would be our top choice.
What money is that? They need to sell half their academy first, don't they?

Surely if we are building for next season with European football then 4 CB is totally logical.. especially if the players can play more than one position.. Even this season with fewer matches we could have used 4 top CB with the Injuries and Suspensions..

Yes would be logical but I would say 4th CB you can sort in summer. When we know IF we have European football

Chelsea are always thrown out by clubs as a bogeyman to get other teams to up their bids.

Earned reputation to be fair.

Feels like the Chelsea link is pretty weak. They're stacked at CB for starters, albeit with injuries. Silva, Badiashile, Disasi, Colwill, Chalobah, Fofana and arguably James and Cucurella who can all play CB, and they have an promising lad coming through in Alfie Gilchrist as well.

They absolutely need a ST way before CB unless im missing something

You must haven mistaken Chelsea for having a coherent transfer strategy.

Chelsea going for Todibo who's heavily linked with their rivals (us and Utd) is entirely on trend.

It's the bipolar nature of SC.
We've got threads full of people complaining that we're not giving Phillips or Dorrington a chance, then we've got people wanting to buy another 2 top young CB's now.

Don't see why Nice would care about the wages he gets offered. And wages count towards FFP, too, don't they?
I never said Nice would care, I said “throw money at him”. In general tho Nice will obviously be in a stronger negotiating situation if more clubs are interested in him tho especially if they aren’t overly keen to sell.

It remains to be seen how much Chelsea’s Jan window is effected by FFP, one would assume it might quite a bit but on the other hand they are supposedly looking at a number of striker options including Toney supposedly who is valued at £70-100 mil depending on reports. If they are considering buying a player for even £70 mil they can’t be that concerned about keeping their spending down.

I’ve given up trying to get my head around the way Chelsea are doing their business but even tho it doesn’t necessarily make much sense to me I wouldn’t be surprised if they were after him. And even if Todibo would rather come here just having another club actively trying to sign him puts Nice in a stronger position. Obv it might also be nonsense but hypothetically if it’s true it doesn’t help us in our pursuit at all.

I think that one of our ITK’s said to expect links to other clubs in the media to leak out, as Nice know that we’re close to putting the trigger on the Dragusin deal. Just another move in the transfer window chess board.. if of course, this bloke on Twitter knows anything at all!

I think that’s a little bit unfair tbh. Ange has shown zero interest in giving Phillips and Dorrington any minutes in the Premier League even with our injury and suspension problems so it appears that as of yet he has little faith in them so people wanting a couple of additions doesn’t seem unreasonable at the moment.

I'm not sure if he was saying the same people who want new centre halves also want Phillips and Dorrington to play. Just that as a group spurscommunity is split. I would like to see at least one of Phillips or Dorrington to play on Friday, if not both but I don't see that happening

Ange is six months into a chaotic season, for me it's perfectly understandable that he's selecting seasoned pros over very young players with zero experience.
It's not exactly a stable environment to throw them into right now and we are still up the top of the table with the selections he's made.

I'd also love to see Phillips and Alfie getting minutes but understand why it's probably not the right time just yet.
Signing, for example, both Dragusin AND Todibo will scupper any chance they have of getting minutes for the next few years.
They are still only 18 and 19, so their time will come soon but it won't if we block their pathway.

I just don't sign up to this recent narrative that Ange is unwilling to play youngsters.
