So sad if true. I'm more disappointed in James Rodriguez going cause he's the better one and the youngest one...I'm just hoping this falls through and AVB can twist DL's arm and get him cause he is another in the Bale caliber....adding him we would likely rule the PL in no time....

We downgraded, yes. YAY MONEY SAVING WOOP WOOP.

That's always going to happen until we're a regular challenger for PL titles. We only have players like Modric or Bale in our team because we bought them before they were seen as world class. When someone like Modric makes enough of a name for himself at Spurs that we sell him for big money to Real Madrid, we can't replace him like for like because that would mean signing a player that is good enough to go to a Real or United or wherever. We can't attract those players, otherwise we wouldn't be losing players of that calibre in the first place.

I've always believed that Moutinho was both too expensive and not quite good enough. If he does go to Monaco I think we'll have dodged a bullet to be honest. I just feel for that sort of money we can do better.

Frankly, I would had gone Monaco as well.... place for the rich and famous. Apparently the tax system is also different.

You dont have to work your ass off like in EPL... why not?

Difference between "being built" and "being paid for", no??
Absolutely, coops. I hear what you're saying. But that concerns me even more, mate: If we didn't have £22 million to spend because the training ground still has to be paid for, why did we go public with a bit? What was that? Just some sham to mug off the fans?

We were never going to get him though.

I'm actually glad it's over.

Ander Herrera would be a very similar and cheaper alternative.

Moutinho must clearly be in it for the money. The French league (no offence to any followers) is weak and Monaco aren't even in Europe.

Oh well, good luck to him I suppose. For the money Porto were asking and the complications involved it wasn't really going to happen was it?

Now Leandro Damiao, I think there's a chance with that one! :p

Disappointed with this, Moutinho clearly after the money. He would have slotted into our midfield perfectly.

Monaco is one of the best places in the world to be a 26 year old multi millionaire.

Very true. But if you are a 26 year old millionaire who wants to play professional football at the highest level, day in day out, then maybe it's not the best place.

Why would you want to play in front of a max 19k fans? Their av attendance was 6000 in ligue 2. It's all good and well signing 4-5 quality players but the existing Monaco squad is rubbish ... no chance of challenging PSG.

Not next year, no. But with money like that, in a league as poor as that, they'll reach the top 2 within 2-3 years.

Probs harsh to say that the current squad is rubbish, they have some good players such as Dirar and Ocampos.

To be honest, I don't buy the whole "the french league is rubbish why would they move there" argument. Just because the league is rubbish now does not mean that it has to be rubbish in the future - kinda like Spurs, just because we weren't top four doesn't mean we shall never be top 4. These players are going to join a project in Monaco of a project in regards to raising Ligue 1 to a world class standard of football.
