Too expensive for what he'd bring to the team. Would rather a wing-forward type like Willian so we're less screwed if Bale/Lennon get injured

Moutinho is the missing link to our team. The guy is top class. I am confident if we signed him we would finish 3rd/4th. Make in happen Mr. Levy

A world class player who'd become the heartbeat of our team? There's no price on what Moutinho would bring to our team.

I respect your opinion and I do rate him, but I'd have to say not particularly higher than Dembele and I don't think he's world class. I'd welcome his addition to the squad but I don't think we should be breaking the bank for him.

An intelligent player with creative ideas and good passing, that is the one missing. The so called Luka-Modric-position.

Before we spent 8m Pounds for 3 players I would rather spend 24m on him.

Signing Moutinho gives us more pro's than con's IMO, the only con would be the price, albeit if we could get £10m for all of Hudd, Gomes, Jenas and Bentley then that would go some way to easing the cost and giving us more flexibility wage wise with Moutinho.

The Pro's still remain the same, he has worked in AVB's team before, he knows the system, he is a superb player and will make the first team stronger, it will be a step forward to replacing Modric/VDV regarding how attractive it is to play for Spurs, a name to draw other players in to play alongside, he would also be a superb player for young Tom Carroll to understudy.

If he plays the next three seasons and we qualify for CL every time then to me it is worth paying the money, it is still a gamble but he has proved himself at club and international level, we should take the plunge.
If we only sign 1 player and it is Moutinho i strongly believe it would be a massive boost and enough to guarantee 3rd/4th place.

Comparing Dembele to Moutinho is irrelevant really as they would have different roles in the same midfield. We need a Modric replacement ; a creative passer who will constantly show for the ball and dictate the tempo of the game. Signing Moutinho would allow Dembele to play further up the pitch, not quite 'in the hole', but as the furthest forward of a midfield trio with Sandro and Moutinho.

Even if you do believe that Moutinho might not be worth breaking the bank for, we certainly need a creative passer in that midfield. AVB has already tried to bring in Moutinho and Modric for Chelsea for big money moves, think of this centre mid signing as the fulcrum of the whole team.

What like composure, structure, tempo, vision and balance? Yeah. Total waste of money he'd be. :)

His cost is the issue though, I agree. DL just isn't going to pony up the dough on this one. Maybe he would, if ironically, AVB wasn't doing such a good job of extracting maximum efficiency out of the squad right now.

I really don't think some people understand just how good he is and how much more well-rounded we'd be with him in the squad. Anytime you watch a Portugal or Porto match, if Moutinho is on the pitch, it's almost as if any substantial buildup starts with him. His teammates seek him, he wants the ball, and he always has an idea with what he's going to do with it. We desperately need more of that.

The only detractor of signing Moutinho would be that 'Carroll's Time' would be pushed back a bit. I still think he should go out on loan for a season (Would love to see him go to Swansea), though.

You don't need to convince me or most others, Snarfy. Get on the blower to Daniel!

It's unfortunate we couldn't get it done in the Summer, because if we had, we could potentially be looking at adding a younger player this upcoming window that excites me rather than stoking this fire again and using all our resources (*Cough* Felipe Anderson *Cough*).

A midfield trio of Sandro, Dembele and Mountinho is just sex wee.
