If the club leave Ange short in defence and attack after selling Harry Kane (becuase we couldn't risk losing him on a free) it would be totally unforgivable IMHO.

Let's hope something great falls into our laps by pure luck tomorrow, certainly wouldn't by by design it seems.
Sure there be plenty who will forgive after 11pm tomorrow and we haven't signed anyone.

What's the old saying about 2 hopes???
Hallam Hope, CF for Oldham Athletic? Harry Hope, RB for Tilbury FC? I know we're getting desperate but surely we're not stooping that low.

edit: according to transfermarkt, there is literally a player called Bob Jnohope (with a silent J), a Free Agent CB with great experience in the Armenian Second Division. You couldn't make this stuff up.

Would not be Spurs if the sky were not always falling.

Maddison, Vicario, Solomon, Van de Van, Veliz, Phillips all in but we have signed no one. Kulu and Porro made permanent. 5 starters in that lot, but when are we going to sign someone significant? And that's not counting Udogia.

ITK has been consistent all along, likely a CB and front three player still to come, but nothing have we done. Players who will be coming in are most likely to be competition - not out and out starters. No top salary on offer and no Europe, and yet people are still shocked that the best of the best are not banging down our doors to come to compete to be in the mix for game day.

Yes, Kane was sold. What other choice was available when he refused to sign a new deal (under any circumstances)? Spurs got the number they wanted and he was allowed to go. There is no one on the market (ITK and rumours have named no one of significance) who can replace him like for like. Perhaps Ferguson (one day) at 115M GBP.

Cannot make players go if they don't want to. That was and remains an issue. They all want top teams, top salary and CL, yet no one (including us) wants them. Even at market value. Overpaid and very average players, by and large.

We will, no doubt, max out on loans to get the squad size down (Scarlett, Rodon, Spence, Parrott and many more to follow - Tanganga, Ndombele, Dier, Lloris, Reguilon etc) - all players who have no spot at Spurs and who really are not desired by others unless they are, by and large free. Hopefully a few of the kids find their way, but never a guarantee.

This has been the way of Spurs since the bloated squad Redknapp left behind. It took 5 years to sort that and we are still sorting out the same as a result of Pochettino (Ndombele, Lo Celso are great examples - no one wants them on their books- they will only be loaned at whatever minimum the other team can stomach).

We's all want for Ange to have all he needs and wants. Reality is we still have 33 senior players contracted (even with Rodon and Spence loans). Realistically we need 17-19 players that Ange can use until the next window opens.

Tomorrow will be a very busy day. If we bring in a player that can cover effectively for Romero and Van de Ven and we get an attacking player to cover/compete with any/all of Son, Kulu, Richarlison, Maddison, it will be one of the most consequential windows in recent Spurs history. And that is all with Veliz and Phillips in the back pocket.

Rome was not built in a day and the dross remaining at the club cannot be gotten rid of in one window.

Hang on tight as I expect September 1st to be crazy.

Good post and a measured analysis but I’m afraid many will take issue with you. Hope you’ve got your flak jacket on 😂.
