To be fair to the guy, it is obvious that not all revenue generated by outgoing transfers is going into the budget for new signings. The stadium has to be paid for and Levy is clearly allocating for it

Then why was he trying to sign Moutinho after the transfer deadline passed on August 31st?

Why should the club be bled to death to fund the stadium itself, when the increased value that stadium represents to the club will flow straight into Joe Lewis' pockets the moment he sells up??

Lewis should issue new shares to fund the stadium. But he won't do that, will he??

Would be more upset at not going for Rodriguez then missing João. Not that we would get ether and this guy is a complete WUM but I really think we need a quality young attacking mid similar to Coutiniho/Hazard/Oscar then a more deep central creative mid. After all we have Holtby and Carroll who can both play that position and i hope have bright futures. Also Rodriguez's ability to play across the top three would be invaluable. We need a classic number 10 who can take on defenders, thread killer passes and finish when needed.

Do you have any idea what Joe Lewis has put into Spurs since he's been here? Neither do I. So quit your moaning.

I'll stop when I'm good and ready!!

And whatever Joe Lewis has invested, he'll walk away from the club with a whole lot more. Do the math...

Thought I'd posted this, but it disappeared. Me being thick.

Joao Moutinho insists he has no intention of leaving Porto this summer after fresh links with a move away from the club.
The Portuguese midfield star has long been linked with former boss Andre Villas Boas, who has tried to sign him for Chelsea and more recently Tottenham.
But big-spending Monaco are now reported to be lining up a move for him and team-mate James Rodriguez.
However, Moutinho is more than happy with life at Porto, where he has just won his third successive league title.
"Right now, nothing will make me change clubs. I am extremely happy here and the most important thing is happiness and winning titles," Moutinho told a press conference.
But he added: "My future is up to FC Porto. No player is immune to leaving. But if something does come up, it has to be something good for both parties."
Moutinho says Porto are determined to improve on their European performances next year.
"We want to improve the campaign from last year, we want to improve on the European level, we want to win everything you enter and it is with this in mind that we will enter the first day of the season," he said.

Just also worth noting on the Porto front that they're not renewing Vitor Pereira's contract so there'll be a new coach there next season...

Would be a shame to miss out on moutinho (seeing that we was so close)

Cant see it happening now.

Just hope we can bring in a midfielder just like Moutinho who would have been ideal for our midfield.

If we sell Parker and Hudd.... this will have some legs. As long as they are not moved... fat chance.

We downgraded, yes. YAY MONEY SAVING WOOP WOOP.

Modric cost us £16.5m it seems sensible to replace him with a player that costs similar and keep the difference towards, I don't know, running the club and paying for a new stadium.

Did you even read the accounts? we havent exactly been making massive profits. Have you been to the ground? Do you think all that London real estate/land came for free?

I may not be an accountant but your financial fantasy living really is something else.

Then WHY was Daniel still trying to sign Moutinho after the transfer window closed?

You're his personal accountant apparently. Give him a tinkle then let us know.

Possibly but DL did say stadium would not impact team building (although I didn't believe that).

I think it clearly is (42 m in cash spent on infrastructure last year)

Well it depends how you quantify 'team building'. Levy would argue that, with our highest points total it hasn't. I know you can't quantify it wholly like that, but it would certainly have to be considered.

Was he? When I suggested that Levy ahem delayed the paperwork, JJetset quoted me and said that wasn't far off the mark, or something to that effect. Now I don't know if JJetset is Levy's accountant, but maybe he knows who is?

That option was made far more difficult when we de-listed. There is no attraction in placing shares in a closed company with the major shareholder holding 80% of the shares. We would never be able to raise enough money by a share placement alone.[/quote]
