It would be funny if after all this speculation Darren Bent ended up staying with us. A lot of fans want him out but if I was him I would stay put at least until a bigger and better club than Sunderland comes along.

He may decide that he will stay and fight for his place.

They are probably trying to push a deal which includes Jones. That is the main thing about the Bent deal.

I think it is so strange to see what people rate as good signings. Jones and Vieira (for free) is actually quite good.

When we sign Bent, Bentley for clearly overprice, many rated this as very good signings.

Good signings for me is to do some great piece of business. It has nothing to do with a star name. It has to do with the quality we get for the money we use.

Players like:
- Taiwo
- Gervinho
- Matuidi
- Gueye
- Bastos
- Jones

All quality players, and would make us an exciting team.

Sunderland want Bent to play alongside Jones. Why would they want to do an exchange? So they have to sign Crrouch to do the same job?

Just seen on the BBC that Crouch is in talks with Sunderland - £12 Million bid agreed. I do hope that we're not pinning our hopes on players that we've got no chance of getting as both Crouch and Downing have according to ITK been on our lists this summer and we could miss out on both of them. (Not that I'll be that fussed if we end up with KJH and Young)

The bigger concern with the Crouch to Sunderland thing is that means they almost certainly won't be in for Bent. As I suspect that we've based our budget on selling Bent I don't know how much movement we can make in the market unless we sell him.

I'd be very surprised to see us get Huntelaar (16m+?) without having offloaded one of our other strikers first.

Why should we let Sunderland have him for peanuts? Given the games, he's as near guaranteed 15+ goals in a season as anyone. That doesn't come cheap, especially in the current climate. Since when was seeking a fair market price greedy?

Jones is an international also...in fact he was crocked for the start of last season after being injured in a match against England.

If there was ever a swap deal in the offing, this is it. Both teams covet and have (probably) bid for the others strikers.

I think Bent really needs to be sold, and quickly. I would have taken 12 mill.

Its gone on for so long now. The player knows the manager doesnt rate him, he wont get games, and we might as well cash in as, ultimately, Bent doesnt offer anything that the others dont. And we do need to sell a striker.
