I think it depends what mood you're in as to what you see.
He doesn’t look like a modern day full back... running down the wing and crossing the ball. He prefers to play the ball over the top and to great effect. Having someone like this is just as beneficial as having a marauding full back bombing up and down the wing all game.
His tackling however is what worries me. As someone pointed out he likes to tackle on the front foot... in the EPL especially, if you slightly miss time the challenge then you’re instantly going to give away a free kick and more often than not in a dangerous position. I prefer players who stay on their feet like Walker.
You’re talking like wan-bissaka hasn’t been good for Utd this season?I won’t pretend to know this guy’s game, but if we’re doing a defense first, slower Wan Bissaka type I really worry for the starting 11 against a packed defense. With the inside forwards of Son and Lucas/Bergwijn there is a huge need for overlapping crosses and pace from the fullbacks. If there isn’t at least high level level pace or creativity coming from Davies/Celik it can allow the defense to narrow heavily, leaving only space in wide areas. Sounds like a recipe for 0-0, or even worse, leave CBs caught out for a counter attack as the fullbacks are forced to operate in final third space offensively and make mistakes higher up the pitch. Basic stuff, it’s why the much maligned Kyle Walker goes for 50m and why Semedo, Alphonso Davies. and Bellerin, despite making tons of mistakes, are still held in such high regard by their clubs.
I wish KWP was just a little bit better at everything he does. 10% more pace, dribbling skill, physical strength, tackling and crossing and I’d honestly feel comfortable with him starting 25+ matches.

I like what you’re saying, but it only takes a couple of those aggressive tackles to be slightly mis-timed and he’ll be exactly where Foyth and Serge are: the loose-cannon bin, with an unshakeable reputation of being reckless and a liability.Against defences that are sat back doesn’t a full back naturally end up in the attacking third?
One of this guys strengths is said to be his crossing, which is great if in areas of space as much as Aurier is.
He’s also a great passer of the ball, which again helps if teams are sat back.
Seems to be this idea you gotta be a usain bolt paced headless chicken to be a threat in attack.
His quick passing and accurate long passing is fantastic in counter attack. His accurate crossing and passing could be great if we are pinning teams back. Mix that with fact he looks seriously good at winning tackles then I’m so much more for signing him than other right backs we’ve been linked to.
It’s not even that simple!Damn us expecting a modern full back at the club ?
I was referring to aurier when I said he couldn’t cross, I haven’t seen enough of celik to knowAnother statistic proving that Celik likes to go forward is his 3.02 crosses per game. This is one of the highest in Ligue 1 and benefits Lille’s system as they have Rémy and Osimhen as strikers. Both are good in the air and can attack the ball well.
Celik is the player who crosses the ball the most in Lille and he has a 30.8% success rate which is good but could be improved.
Lille makes 14.14 crosses per game with a 26% accuracy. This means that he makes over a fifth of the team’s crosses per game and has higher accuracy on average. Consequently, this shows that the team heavily rely on him for accurate crosses during the game.
Think he might have been referring to selling Trippier who can definitely cross.I dunno about great attacking fullback...the guy can’t cross
Your type?I like the look of this lad
It’s not even that simple!
SC- Walker makes too many errors, we need a RB who can create....
SC- not trippier! Someone who can defend a bit as well...
SC- but not aurier! Someone who doesn’t dive in!
SC- but not a Davies equivalent, he’s too steady...
SC- but not Aarons, he’s too raw..
SC-but not Castagne, he’s only played as a wingback...
SC- but not Zeki Celik, he cant dribble...
SC-but not an expensive, complete RB, he’s going to blow our budget...
Now, I might be exaggerating, and I might have read “i wrote to the zoo” as a bedtime story for my 3 yr old, but I think we need to take a risk here...
I’m surprised we’ve never seen Sissoko used there.Give me a lightening quick attacking full-back who can get forward and create another layer to the attacks and our counter-attacks any day of the week over a "solid" failed centre-back that's been shoved out wide. Kyle Walker was seen as "error prone" but he was so fast that it didn't matter as he could recover when he got caught out of position.
Have said it several times before and doubt we'll ever see it, but I'd love to see Lucas Moura given a go at RWB along a three man CB defence.
