So, the friendlies are over, we had the topic who WE want but who do you think FABIO will take?

My guess:

GK: Hart, Green, James
RB: G. Johnson, Carragher
LB: A.Cole, Baines
CB: Ferdinand, Terry, King, Dawson
RM: Lennon, Walcott
LM: Milner, J. Cole
CM: Gerrard, Lampard, Barry, Carrick
ST: Rooney, Crouch, Defoe, Heskey

Left out: Warnock, Upson, Huddlestone, Parker, A. Johnson, Wright-Phillips, Bent

I personally think Adam Johnson should be on the plane rather than Walcott, but Fabio seems to have made his intentions clear with Johnson only getting 5 minutes in two friendlies!

Upson/Dawson is a straight toss up and I think Carrick will get the nod ahead of Huddlestone purely on international experience and it looks as though Barry will go the way his progress is being talked up!

Same but Upson for Dawson as Upson has played several times under Capello. He should take Dawson though, but I don't think he will. Hudd will go if Barry misses out.

I'm not sure if Carrick is a definite at the mo. More caps than Hudd obviously but under Capello he's only started one competitive match. I wonder if recent form and Hudd's competent performance today did enough..

I think Daws is out sadly. He's the only uncapped player in the 30.

After Walcott's performance today you wouldn't have him anywhere near the 30 man squad let alone the 23. Also, Glen Johnson was worringly poor aswell. I actually thought we looked a much better and well balanced side when Carragher was on that side. With Lennon and Carragher on the right you certainly get a similar looking right side to Lennon and Corluka, which we all know works wonderfully for us.

It will be a tight call between Bent and Heskey aswell.

I would say the 7 that will be left out will be:

Dawson, Warnock, Parker, Carrick, Johnson, Wright Philips, Bent or Heskey.

I think The Hudd showed a much more composed performance than Carrick has done in England shirt for a while, which might just give him the Nod to be cover for Gareth Barry.

Pretty sure that Capello won't pick this 23 though, let alone the first 11.

Anyone who thinks Dawson is going is either insane or stupid.

Whether he deserves to go is an entirely different matter...

I thin the 23 will be:

James, Hart, Green

A Cole, Terry, Ferdinand, Johnson, Carragher, King, Baines

Gerrard, Lampard, Barry, Lennon, Walcott, J Cole, Huddlestone, Milner

Rooney, Crouch, Heskey, Defoe

I hope after todays game he only takes 3 strikers, and takes J.Cole as an extra Striker cover who can play across the midfield as well.

James, Hart, Green

A Cole, Terry, Ferdinand, Johnson, Carragher, King, Baines, Upson

Gerrard, Lampard, Lennon, Walcott, J Cole, Huddlestone, A Johnson, J Cole, Millner

Rooney, Crouch, Defoe

if you're having a dig at me, i clearly stated that i didnt think Capello would go with that 23; its more of my 23 than his so I am neither insane or stupid.

No dig intended. I was just stating that its pretty clear that he should start booking his summer holidays.

Anyone get the feeling that A. Johnson, Dawson, Parker and Warnock were never going to be in the 23 man squad no matter how well they did in training?

I think the only way Adam Johnson will go to the world cup is if Capello decides to not take both Bent and Heskey, which I dont think would be a terrbile thing, but will look seemingly unlikely.

all good then :)

i do really hope capello has some kind of epiphany and selects him tho.

EDIT: 606'ers still think rate walcott ahead of Lennon

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A69127996

Do they? most people in that link put Lennon in the team.

Personally i see the following being dropped - Parker, Dawson, Warnock, Heskey, Carrick. Not sure about the others.

the OP and the anti-chelsea guy didnt. it just amazes me how they can still rate walcott ahead of Lennon even if there are only a few of those ppl. sum1 even rated Milner ahead of Lennon and walcott for RW.

Question is does he take another attacking option or does he take one of Upson/Dawson who didn't play at all in the 2 games? Defence looks pretty thin considering Terry was holding his leg, Rio is coming back from injury and looks ropey and Ledders is Ledders. I think he'll take another defender.

I could see Defoe not going until today. But Bent missed two decent chanced today so that may have made Capello's mind up for him. Gutted for Daws though. Can not beleive he didn't get 45mins in the last two games. Especially with JT and Rio so out of sorts.

Also is there really a need for two specialist left backs? Barry played much of his career at LB at Villa. Carra and Milner can also cover there. Warnock and Baines are not up to it IMO

Just been listening to Matty Etherington on Talksport, he said Lennon is the standout winger and the toughest he's faced in the league, said he likes Adam Johnson too. Tried being kind to Walcott but reading between the lines I got the impression that he thinks he's shit too :)

Capello says not one single player has forced their way into the 23 based on the two games and his 23 is the one he had before the two games kicked off. Read into that what you will.
