i disagree, walcott when on 'top form' is england's most dangerous player. you can't beat pace and he's so small defenders will find it hard to stop him without a foul.

Fair enough. But possibly overstating the case with "most dangerous". And I'd take quality over dangerous every day. Even if he's our quickest player, it won't be by much and there are others (like Bob says) that offer much more as a complete package.

There could be an argument that slower nations would be fearful of Walcott being introduced after 70 minutes when they are tired. International football does lend itself to 'specialist subs' in that respect. But if the squad has Lennon, Young, Johnson? Defoe even? I'm not convinced.

Let's remember here that Capello is an Italian manager, and one of the greats.
He picks teams on form, he uses friendlies for their true purpose of testing players, and not simply picking the a team to win the game.

I don't agree with picking a team to win a friendly game, what's the point? friendlies are there to test players, formations and tactics.

I hope Walcott falls flat on his face again, one good game for England doesnt make him international class, he has been poor for over a year now, not fulfilling his reputation as a youngster, I bet the Froggy is kicking himself for paying that kind of money on a player he could have stole from a French club for £1m...

Walcott and Terry need a Friendly game which has no great implications attached, in a way this will give them a chance to go out and play rather then dwell on their club form. I assume that's what Fabio is thinking. A confident performance could help both turn the corner somewhat.

Having said that I don't believe Terry should even be in the squad. This whole media furore has rattled him, and he has had two stinkers recently which could well cost his club in Europe and the League. Can we afford to take such a player to the World Cup?

Jagielka, should he play the rest of the season injury free will come in to the squad, as he can also cover RB, and even defensive midfield. I think for Dawson and Huddlestone, we need to finish 4th for them to even get a sniff of coming into the squad, both are also relying on injuries to break in. Ashley Young is an interesting one, but with Milner and Downing doing so well he will have to wait for the Euros. Zamora is a wildcard call, but I think he won't have the right mentality to perform at a World Cup, hence his non-selection.
