5th.

Top 3 places are going to be any combination of the financial dopers... with 4th inevitably taken by le' Arse. I'd say overall we edge Liverpool, although teams like Koeman's Everton and Leicester are likely to be on our heels.

The unfortunate truth. We could finish anywhere from 4th to 7th without having an awful season.

3rd - 6th

Quicker we get everyone up to speed, the higher we'll come. Competition is fierce though.

Media seem scared to throw any criticism to the new managers however, results business I guess.

Utd - Big window and 9pts from Bournemouth, Soton (rebuilding) and Hull (promoted). Pretty fortunate to nick the winner at Hull late on. Soton started well too. Can Ibra keep it up all season? Jose will most likely get them above us regardless, and Mkhitaryan should be great.

City - 9pts from Stoke(A), Sunderland (H), West Ham w/o Payet post Europa (H). Impressive, especially vs West Ham 1st half but far from finished article, which I'm sure Pep will admit. Let Sunderland and WH back into their games with pretty soft goals, very lucky late OG winner at Sunderland. However putting teams to the sword on counter. Title faves for me.

Chelsea - 9pts from undercooked West Ham w/o Payet (H), Watford (A), Burnley (H). Two late winners from Costa who should have been sent off in both. Impressive vs Burnley with Hazard hitting dangerous form but did Burnley blow their load vs Liverpool? Still leaking goals and Luiz can't help that can he?

All with pretty kind fixtures, great 9pt starts but after watching I think all have been somewhat jammy to be 100%. In a way it worries me of a lockout but they haven't exactly looked Barca/Bayern/Juve dominating YET.

Liverpool - Their attack is deadly in case you hadn't heard? Gegen press is second to none. Klopp the god of all men. Legend says he wore a Beatles T-shirt in a press conference once! Mane does improve them for sure. As always great 4pts from big games away to Arsenal and Spurs, incredibly poor result losing to Burnley. Hardest starting fixtures though TBF. If consistent could be a threat for sure but jury still out on new CBs and GK and how have they not signed an LB?! Lacking a DM unless Emre Can is allowed to focus and stays fit. Couldn't beat us despite us being undercooked and playing in to their gameplan.

Arsenal - Slow start like us. Sanchez not hitting the heights yet and obviously had CB issues. Mustafi strong signing, Perez - I've never heard of him (and I'm normally pretty knowledgeable, just not enough of a purist to follow mid-table LFP), could be great but no guarantees he'll be the 20+ man they crave. Xhaka very talented but nothing new for them, plus looks a red card waiting to happen. Still lacking bonafide DM. Dispatched Watford superbly though, will be around where they usually are.

Everton - Good manager, decent signings and kept key players bar Stones, this years West Ham.

Leicester - Maybe they can have another run. Kante a massive loss but did very well to keep the rest. You'd think Musa and Slimani are an upgrade on Okazaki and Ulloa so could be interesting. New pushing rules may be tough on Morgan and Huth. There to be shot at now though, not everyone's second team anymore.

Finally us - Clearly not up to speed, but 5pts isn't too shabby considering that we haven't had the easiest fixtures (excluding Palace). Key to us is Poch getting a tune out of us once more. Decent enough defensively but well below par offensively. Squad has been refreshed and is stronger so it's all about getting Kane and Co confident, fit and firing.

TL-DR - Far too many pundits talking definitively so early on and too much weight on transfers. This time last year Chelsea were likely winners, Leicester were doomed, and we had no chance of CL due to Man Utd and Liverpool being stronger. It's up to Poch and the lads now...

Maybe I am overly optimistic, but I don't see any team that is demonstrably better than we are right now. We have the league's best defensive unit. We have, arguably, the best central midfield combo in two of Dier/Dembele/Wanyama/Sissoko. Pogba and Pick-a-player are good, but I think we neutralize any mid-field combo with our size and strength. Our attacking options are good - maybe not great - but certainly among the top few in the league - judging by the 2nd in the league in goals scored last season. We have dramatically upgraded our bench options this season. We can send in subs to chase a game, or kill off a game. We can bring on pace, or we can bring on steel.

United have put together the best team money can buy - but can they do it for 38 games? Pep is a great manager, but can he take a team that does not have the best talent in the league and make them better? Nobody knows that right now. Conte has inspired Chelsea, but they still rely on an aging defense - can it hold up all season? Seems unlikely. Arsenal - we are better than Arsenal, and we have greater strength and fortitude. I am not worried about Arsenal this year - I think they finally miss out on CL, in Wenger's final season.

But, we have to believe in ourselves imo. The players and coaches believe. Its time for the supporters to believe in them also.
I think this still says it all for me. I am more optimistic than the average Spurs supporter, but I have not seen anything this season to change my mind.

I've bet £100 with annoying Arsenal chick opposite me at work that we'll finish above Arsenal - then I bet another £100 that we'll win the league. Because she kept calling me a pillock.

1 place below Arsenal, because the final 2 games of last season (where we needed a single point and lost them both) confirmed that I am never destined to see us finish above them. Last year was my 20th following Spurs and I've never seen us do it...

At the beginning of the season I bought Spurs premier league points at 67.5 for £100 a point with Sporting Index. The spread is now 71.5-73 which is the same as Man Utd but behind Arsenal (73.5-75), Liverpool (75.5-77) and Man City (81-82.5) and only just ahead of Chelsea (71-72.5).

I still think we are still the value bet at the current spreads. We would be 1.5 pts higher but for the Kane injury which curiously I think might actually work to our advantage over the course of a long season.

IF our signings and youngsters have a good, healthy season and IF the rest of the squad stays fit and without a huge dip in form, we will finish 3rd.

Originally said this, but now my prediction is 22-11-5 for 77 points and 2nd place. I think we'll learn even more after November is finished.

I have no idea what any of this means but it sounds dodgy. Don't get us any points deducted!

After consulting the local Mayan "curanderos" I have absolutely no doubt this season we will win the league.

I hope they used the Gregorian calendar, not the Mayan one, for their calculations.:cautious:
