Im gonna go for 4th. We are a relatively known quantity. Im sure one out of Utd, City, Chelsea or Liverpool will have a meltdown.

Ugh, I can't game us out any higher than 5th. Think we'll stay ahead of Liverpool - our window was better than theirs - but United, City and Chelsea look ridiculously back to form this season, and Arse will just chug along and pip us by the usual point and 4 goals or whatever.
I really think people should reserve judgement on Utd, City and Chelsea until after they have some difficult games. All had very easy starts. Let's see how Utd and City come out of the derby. I'm still sceptical on Mourinho and want to see what happens when they hit a rough patch. Pep has a lot of new players to integrate but they started with the best squad so he had a big head start. I could be clouded by my utter hatred for the club but I really don't see Chelsea as that great, going to be very reliant on Hazard.

I didn't say Hazard. I said Hazard type and yes we know they don't grow on trees but that's what Mitchell and our scouting network is supposed to be for. To unearth a player with those capabilities, just like they did when they scouted Alli and we got him for 5M, for example.

and if they didn't we have another Adebayor (on less wages) on our hands causing unrest in the dressing room

But if he lives up to his potential then he's everything we're looking for and is instantly worth > £30m. He likely wouldn't be on anything over 40k p/w so we could easily swallow that if he's a dick.

Poch wouldn't let him ruin the dressing room dynamic, if he doesn't fit in then just banish him like he's done with the others.

I have to admit I don't watch French football, or any european football unless its a CL/EL match. i watched both players Boufal and GKN youtube clips, and they both look terrific players, but the reason Poch decided to not bother chasing Berahino again was attitude, and if Boufal has it in his locker,

what would he be like if he had signed? he has been injured (not sure if he still is) and had to gain fitness, but it turns out our trusted XI are playing so well he has to sit on the bench, at a guess he would eventually get the hump, might never kick a ball in anger for us, and a complete waste of 16m transfer and 40k a week in wages.

to be honest I'm expecting GKN most probably will struggle to adapt to the EPL, whose to say Boufal will, and with the injury he has just suffered 1 nasty knock and he is out for months on end.

From what i've read it seems like he should be fit for Southampton in a few weeks. He passed a medical so clearly theres no worry for his long term fitness.

He's got that moment of magic in him, he'd be the perfect sub to bring off the bench against a team parking the bus.

I predict:
PL - 4th / 5th
CL - Last 16 / QF
FA Cup - 5th Round
League Cup - QF

I don't want to sound negative, but it's quite likely that matching our points total of last season won't be quite enough for 4th this time around, let alone 3rd. The top 4 all got fairly low points totals, compared to in previous seasons.

It could be argued that the league is more even and competitive now, with the top sides dropping more points rather than the top teams underperforming, leaving lower points totals.

So much depends on the attacking trio behind the striker. Kane score goals if we create chances or space for him and I think Janssen is the same. One of the main reasons for our success last season was Alli taking the league by the scruff of the neck and being the surprise package of tenacity, irreverence, and end-product. We need that because we can't buy the likes of deBruyne, Silva, the Armenian at United, Sanchez, Hazard....all consistent end-producers and big game players. We have to have one person or that collective trio really at the races, and quickly.

I've gone for the same as last season (3rd), which might be optimistic. The concern I have is that the big 3 have started off without really being tested much. That wasn't a feature last season when every middle of the road team was really pushing the big sides hard and often beating or drawing with them. We need that paradoxical effect of 'mid/lower' sides not to roll over to the stars, but to still beat those sides consistently ourselves.

The hope is that in Sissoko, Son, and Nkoudou, we've given the manager enough options to inject pace and directness if we're struggling to break teams down. If we can get that rhythm against the 'mid to lower' sides, then we've got plenty for the big sides to think about when we come up against them.

I forgot Hull pushing United all the way, so that's probably harsh on them in terms of pushing the big teams in the early going.

We kept our very strong 'first 11' and improved on some of our 'backup' players, so we are stronger.

Some teams around us will probably be better this season. Some will be worse.

It isn't crazy to assume Leicester will not be quite as hard to beat as last season.

I guess we'll finish 3rd. I'll guess Man U, Arsenal, and Chelsea will make up the rest of the top 4.

I think ytou can throw a blanket over the top 6 as not much separates them at all imo. I'm of the opinion that United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and us could finish in any order and it's too hard to predict right now.

I genuinely don't understand why people are being so pessimistic here and thinking we'll finish 5th/6th. I haven't felt this optimistic as a Spurs fan since the morning after Bale shat all over Inter Milan.

I think we've strenghtened cleverly this window. We haven't bought many superstars but instead some physcial strong talented players.

I'm gonna say 3rd. Utd, City & Chelsea all look very strong this year but we easily have a better squad in every position than L'Pool and I have a funny feeling this will be the year the Arse implode. Expect buckets of shit from them for Wenger's goodbye.

3rd or 4th

The two Mancs clubs look too strong.
Chelsea has looked iffy so far and I think we might be able to challenge them for 3rd/4th.

I don't think Arsenal will finish top 4 and I think Pool will drop a fair few points to lower sides.

We have better strength in depth now.
If we rotate our players, they should get sufficient rest for a stronger run at season end.

Christ knows how anyone's form is going to play out at this early stage. We've got another pointless international break interrupting the flow of the new season already!

Personally I think we need to improve a lot, and we need to remain consistent right to the end of the season this time, no matter what we end up challenging for. If we don't there will be questions that need answering about our style and fitness.

IF our signings and youngsters have a good, healthy season and IF the rest of the squad stays fit and without a huge dip in form, we will finish 3rd.

I´ve gone for an optimistic 2nd. Anything between 2nd and 5th is what I expect.

With Leicester I have a feeling they will be good but not with the desperate hunger they had last year... Not enough to fight for the title.
Arsenal and Liverpool will have to deal with multiple muscle injuries (more than any other teams. Wenger and Klopp must be doing something wrong in training because it does seem to be a common thing with their teams) on keyplayers and that alone is enough for me to believe we will finish ahead of them.

Impressive names but big egos at Chelsea and both of the Manchester clubs... If have a feeling there might be a few bad apples in each of those squads and if they end up being out of favor with their respective managers things will get interesting. The key players at Chelsea have already shown they have no problem downing tools and walking thru the season if they don´t get cuddled by their manager. Guardiola has shipped out Hart but will he keep the "inner core" on his side?
Ofcourse I don´t believe all 3 clubs will have their seasons ruined from within the dressing room and I feel Mourinho got Ibrahimovic to do a bit of his work... He is known for demanding a lot from everyone, even in training he can loose it if someone is just playing around. I can see them winning it.

5th.

Top 3 places are going to be any combination of the financial dopers... with 4th inevitably taken by le' Arse. I'd say overall we edge Liverpool, although teams like Koeman's Everton and Leicester are likely to be on our heels.
