I'm back from the banning wilderness, but have been watching during my enforced break...

I can officially announce: The only thing in this thread that's more disturbing than Coopsie is Mr Pink's undying Benteke love.

Mr Pink, are you in line for some part of the fee? It's bordering on scary.

I appreciate Dempsey for what he is. Personally I think he got way too much stick last season considering the 'big' goals he ended up getting for us.

However if it means helping to get Benteke I have no problem with it ie if AVB is happy enough to do so etc,

But we would still have to replace Dempsey as well as getting Beneteke. Dempsey is really a midfielder who chips in with goals, he isn't an out an out striker.

The Players i'd get rid of to free up wages and help fund signings are the obvious ones! Thudd, Parker, Livermore and Dempsey. If we could sign two strikers i'd also ship out one of Ade or Defoe simply because although on form they're great but they're inconsistent! Defoe goes through patches and its frustrating to watch! I barely remember him scoring after Christmas maybe 2 goals

Someone says Villa need to sell him quick where as we can take our time.
Well that tactic hasn't helped us sign Leandro, Moutinho, Willian, Villa, Arshavin(lol) etc etc etc etc etc

Well I won't be disappointed if we don't sign him, but I think Villa are pushing for two reasons which are reasonable enough for them, the first is to try and push other teams into rushing better offers and the second it to give themselves time to find a replacement if they do get any offers they feel match their valuation

I really don't think Levy will be pushed into any rushed decision, he'll maybe put in a lowish offer if he thinks getting the player might give him a player he can sell at a profit in a few years but there's no way he'll offer anything like the money Villa appear to want

I actually think Levy has his eyes set on Soldado and Negredo as he probably feel if either are available near the end of the window he'll be able to get a deal given both clubs have to sell

Dempsey is free to go I would say. Siggy is more than capable if filling the gap left by him. I vaguely remember rumours of Dempsey being on 80k or something which could be another reason to get rid. He was never a forward really.

On another point there is a lot of talk about how expensive Benteke is but when I think of strikers i often think of Man Utd. Say what you want about Fergie but he knew how important a striker was and was never afraid to spend top money on one. Yorke, Cole, Berba, Rooney, Tevez, RVP all went for large fees and of course they narrowly missed out on Shearer. At the time a lot of these weren't world class (except RVP) but were scoring for lower teams.

I think selling Dempsey would be a big mistake. He is committed and he scores so he's not a bad player to have on the bench. He just has that instinct of being in the right place at the right time to get a scruffy goal.

In all honesty I don't think we would get that much for him anyway.

Dempsey played as an attacker last year so replacing him with a Bernard type wouldn't be out of the question. I think we need another player that can go past a player. Dempeys main strength is shooting from the 18 yard line and we have others that can do that. He also has a nose for a run and finish but I think Siggy can provide hat off the bench and the shooting but with a bit of extra craft in terms of passing. We need a player that can creat off the dribble like Lennon and Bale!

I'm trying my best, I'm born and raised in manchester so my family are reds so its a fucking war of attrition. My son is 5 and I've been buying him spurs and barca kits since he was born.

I went to pick my son up from my mum and dads last Sunday and my son was wrapped in foil like he had been in a car crash and was in shock. I asked him what was doing dressed as a robot and the little bastard ripped the foil off to reveal a utd top with van Persie on the back!!!!
If my dad wasn't knocking 60s door down then I would have uppercutted him haha

Anyway the war goes on. Ill take my son to get a tattoo of Ledley king on his face and see what my family say about that.

As jerry garcia mentioned the club is on lock down at the moment so random stories will pop up out of the blue. Just a few bits if anyones interested...

The only clubs in for parker are qpr and west ham. Both 3 million pound offers.

Khumalo is on trial at ipswich we are angling for a free transfer they are asking just a loan. Deal setup by our former youth coach bryan klug.

Huge rumours on big kevin macdonald resigning from swindon town and tim sherwood to replace him. I would imagine it would be les ferdinand to replace him as les was the final three interviewees for the job along with kevin mac and ian wright. No big loss as les does not do very much.

I do not understand the rumoursl with clint dempsey he has clearly been told he is going nowhere and to fight for a place in the eleven. Key to unlocking american sponsers aswell.

Benny is off to anyone that will take him. Most fined (disciplined) player behind adebayor last season.
