I wouldn't be against us getting Negredo tbh, obviously I'd prefer Benteke but if the fee is going to be around £25mill then it's a bit too expensive IMO. Negredo has impressed me in recent seasons and would probably about half the fee Benteke would.

Not much to chose between Benteke and Negredo. Think Benteke is less of a risk, even with a higher fee. Settled in this country, proven to score goals in this league, and has a good Belgian core and French speaking players already at the club. And of course for Levy, younger so more sell-on fee potential.

Got to be honest, I'd rather have Soldado than Benteke or Negredo, but I'd happily take either of them if that's completely beyond the realms of possibility.

Bentekkers will provide a very very useful asset - A striker who is in the box. For all of Ade's hallowed "hold-up play" he is never in the frickin' box, so that completely eliminates a whole other route to attacking, namely crosses. This is why, for all of his faults, Dempsey was somewhat useful. He got himself in the box. Tap-ins are goals too. Headers are goals too. We severely lacked that last year, and CB would go a long way to fixing it.

dont know why, but Darren Bent had similar credentials didnt he, and got ridiculed for not getting involved in build up play.

Benteke is PL proven, younger, quicker, stronger so I'd prefer him for sure but I think I might be in the minority for that. But Negredo will probably be around £15m as oppose to £25m that Benteke will supposedly cost. I don't like the thought of us getting Negredo over Benteke but unfortunately I do see it. This is possibly what most of you will prefer.

I guess we have it in a way but want to invest it carefully. Paulinho should be worth the money. Now we have to find a deal for a striker who is worth his money.

I don't think it was a case of one player, then another. We went after several players at once, Paulinho signed, Villa went Atletico. It happens.

I've said it before but i'll say it again! None of us know how much Spurs have to spend. It's silly saying we have X amount to spend or we have no money! Yes we probably thought we could sign David Villa for £8M, but his wages were £110k pw, and giving him a 3 year contract would cost £17M!!!! How is this the cheap option considering he's 31 years old.

It's the City effect. If Sevilla think City wants him then they'll price him accordingly. Dzeko might be available if they do buy him, although his wages would probably put him out of our price range.

No chance Levy is paying that for a 28 year old. And if that's the case, we have a far better chance of signing Benteke for a similar amount.
