So amongst all of South America and Europe, Remy is at the top of our list.

How utterly underwhelming.

What is the point of Baldini and our scouting network if the best we can come up with is bloody Remy.

We're finding gems of players all over the park. Bar uptop. Our scouting for strikers over the last few years is nothing short of embarrassing.

I think what you want to say is Levy does what the fuck he wants regardless of technical directors

The reason they didn't mention Benteke is because they are not as close to what is going on as others. It has been rumbling on all week.
Now I will update you more soon with why DL wouldn't pay up but I haven't heard the full story yet.

Haha maybe. But at the end of the day it's AVB's job to help get the best out of players and we know there's a good player in Ade.

It's the same as in the office environment. Some people will be motivated for being there and some need to have their arm put round them. Pathetic as it sounds if that's what Ade needs to bang in some goals then do it.

Just do not rate Remy for some reason I cannot pinpoint.

Levy would rate him as he would be very cheap compared with soldado so its a no contest for him really cheap versus quality.

I think we dodged a bullet here.. Benteke is good, really good and really would like to see a CF added but 25-28m£? Insane. For that kind of money I would like to see a more established forward. Van Persie cost what 25m£ although in the last year of contract, Soldado 20-25m£(?), Negredo went for roughly 30m£ and Jovetic also. So to pay that kind of money for a guy who haven't played in europe, one season premiership and regurlaly asking for transfers, I think the asking price is little too much.

Asking price was too much but no point in comparing the likes of that ro RVP - who was a lot older and only had a year left on his contract.

To be fair it wasn't rocket science

Benteke had already burst into a very promising Belgium national side and given a strong performance against the Dutch, he had all the physical attributes required to be a success in our league and was available for only £7m (when Lukaku for example had cost more than double that)

He seemed a perfect gamble on a youngster back up signing to the incoming Adebayor at the time

Ok yes hindsight helps to validate that notion now, by I myself had wanted us to sign him and was disappointed when Villa did and I have very little knowledge of outside football markets and up and coming youngster scouting (I am certainly no Spursking) so I'd have expected our own scouting network to have been able to pick up on his ability and potential

It wasn't like we didn't know we needed more than just Ade and Defoe - we'd had them the season before and known we needed more hence bringing in Saha. The fact is Villa's scouts were able to pick up on his potential while we knowing our need for such a striker failed to and failed to bring in anyone at all (and in my opinion this failure cost us CL football, again)

Soldado and Bernard. Now that would be an exceptional double deal. I'd much prefer Soldado to Benteke anyway, think he'd be brilliant for us.

Well if we signed Bernard and Soldado I'd be a very happy old git, and would think we should realistically be top 4, maybe even top 3.
If we signed just Remy, meh be lucky to get top 6.

I'm quite surprised that no ITK suggested that Benteke could sign a new deal with Villa. Nobody at all even remotely suggested that was an option, similar to the nearly universal silence (LLM excepted) about Villa to A. Madrid.
All the while a good lot of it is promoting the idea that we will sign these players. Is it agent gossip?

Remy would be a good signing IMO, perfect for a 433 but is he an upgrade on what we already have? (Based on his performances last season).

Really hope one of the reasons we didn't spend £20m on Teke is because we are spending it on Bernard!

Without a doubt. On his game he's superb.

It's his attitude and effort I get frustrated with.

If this means we are pushing harder for Soldado and Bernard then this is good news. I doubt Remy could be signed until his rape case is heard.
