This. It does make me chuckle how twitter rumours get people seeking out their pitchforks, whereas JJ's latest wet dream is taken as fact. Ultimately this Benteke farce has thrown a lot of cold water on a lot of supposed ITKs.

Bring back Teletext.

Teletext is all you may have left if you tow that line re ITK, pinch of salt required and it's the end of the world if things don't pan out the way ITK's say, just the nature of the beast.

I'm not bothered one little bit. Haven't seen anything from him to suggest he is an upgrade on what we have.

David Villa on the other hand.....

I get the impression that a lot of folk on here just want us to sign anyone!

What makes me laugh is reports said no bids were made for Benteke. So everyone is getting irate about something that might not have happened or for all we know we might not have been after.

That's what I'm curious about. Only a couple of ITK's came out and said that we were, it also wasn't all over the media. I have no doubt that we were interested, but I reckon as soon as a price was quoted and they were not going to budge, we just said fair enough

I think that's probably it. We thought he was worth X and they wanted 25 million. He's very good but I don't think he's worth 25 million, yet. But he was on a contract and so fair play to them.

And another point...

If it is indeed Ade leading the line come the start of the season Spurs fans need to get right behind him.

Too often last season when he was struggling for form there were too many groans if he missed a chance or misplaced a pass.

We have all seen how good he can be.

I honestly beleive he wasn't fit for the majority of last season and then his confidence was affected and he looks like a confidence player to me.

An on form Adebayor is a great player and there aren't much better around.

I think people are prepared to wait for the right player(s) however nervous that the club will settle for yet another duff signing as a panic as deadline day looms.

We would of and have been the same. I wanted him and made no secret of the fact, the price, that wasn't my concern if DL wanted to pay it. He didn't and Villa have kept their prize asset. Fair play to them for digging their heels in.

My thoughts exactly! Ade should be given another season. If he can repeat the same form as season before, it's like having a new signing!

Too right - an on form Ade is a great asset, and even if he isn't, booing him achieves absolutely nothing. To hear that some of our own were booing him in a preseason friendly made me so angry - some of our fans really are idiots.

Agree to certain extent. But if we can't improve on what we have then what's the point?

Villa would of improved us. Benteke? Don't think so personally.

Who else realistically can we sign? We are not CL and we don't pay big wages. So it's always going to be difficult.

We have already signed a Brazilian international who has improved us so its not all doom and gloom.

Agree we need a striker, but as I've said previously Adebayor can be top class. People have short memories on here and have seemed to of forgot how good he was the season before last.

On a positive note - only five days left before we can move for Bernard

Stiker wise I guess our options are down to Soldado, Leandro, Dzeko and maybe Higuain if we use Bale as bait.

I would LOVE Dzeko and believe he would score a buttload of goals for us. After the City signings you would have to assume he would be available. Would AVB like him though?

Interesting comment from AVB in an interview that included questions about the Brca job. Was he jst stating the obvious when making the point about the speculation surrounding Bale that English clubs were behind the rest in getting the players they want in this window? Was it perhaps a gentle nudge in the direction of the Board as he talked about the one top international we have signed?

Not sure if the Barca thing will happen, though he is the bookies slim favourite, but perhaps he has already seen enough of our transfer window dealings to feel he will never change things at WHL, so never get the squad he wants? With Harry it did not matter but AVB works in a different way and needs each player to understand what he wants and fit into the jigsaw puzzle that he is building. That means he needs time with players...like the pre-season

OK I am no doubt reading too much into this but what is AVB really thinking?

Need to get someone decent in, and soon imo, so they can get "embedded" in the squad.

Not having a pop at this or any particular poster but the EPL is real life .. Not a console game like fm or FIFA.
