Spurvert@spurvert Work has been done on a transfer for Damiao to Spurs this summer and AVB likes him a lot. Hopefully it's the time for this to happen #THFC
Cam Favahopefully when AVB was at the hotel when the brazil squad was there he used his charm on Damiao lol
Spurvert@spurvertwhy do you think he was there?
Cam Fava@fava112 exactly that reason, I hope haha
Spurvert@spurvert correct
Total speculation and entirely misleading to suggest you know that Villas Boas went to the Brazil hotel with the express intention of speaking to Leandro. Clearly it's entirely plausible, having taking all his coaching staff with him, that he went there to meet Sandro, viewed as one of our key players, who he wasn't going to have too many opportunities to speak to before the season starts. We know that while there he spoke to Hulk as a former colleague, and he may or may not have also spoken to Leandro, but to claim you have the knowledge he went there for the primary reason to speak to Leandro is in my book, misleading.

Wee bit harsh considering I've pulled a conversation off of Twitter and posted it in here. Spurvert didn't ask for me to do that. In all honesty, we have no idea what kind of information Spurvert may have access to. I, for one, enjoy his information and I don't think he's attempting to mislead anyone.

Re Spurvert's info, I do not believe we will sign Damiao & Adebayor. Lets say Damiao costs £20m and accepts 70k pw on a 5 years deal (almost certainly what we'd offer in terms of time scale). That's a 38m deal. Adebayor's is going to cost around £24m.

I found it hard to grasp how we were going to do the Aebayor deal in the first place, because there is no inherent value in it at all. Even if we got him for nothing (having agreed to pay him 170pw for the first two years of 4) would still cost us 9m for one year and we'd have to sell him for that after 1 year just to break even. Maybe, like other deals (Gallas, Parker, Davids etc) Levy appreciated that it was worth taking the hit for footballing reasons, I don't know ?

But either way, you can't play both of those, so you've either got £24m sitting on the bench sulking or £38m sitting on the bench sulking.

We just could not afford that. Do not see that happening. Unless there's been some backing and they are keeping it under wraps so as not to mess with player negotiations (hard to believe in the extreme)

It will be one or the other, or neither. Not both. And for me, although Adebayor is the superior all round package footballing wise, from an AVB (system) and financial viewpoint, Damiao makes some sense.
Agree BC, just can't see the value in the Ade deal, especially over a long contract.
If we got him on loan with the same deal as last season, that would be ok.
One can only speculate what he is demanding from City, but if it means the owners taking umbrage with him, they might just put him in cold storage to save face.

Not knocking you at all mate, I just don't think that info is plausible. Cheers for posting.

Totally agree, no way can I see both happening. The complications with Adebayor have obviously precipitated a fresh move for Damiao. Now whether that's designed to pressure City and Adebayor as well I don't know, but we are in a pretty good position if Damiao would consider a move and Inter would sell for the right price (which I'm sure they would)

Already discussing transfer policies and players that aren't in any tweets. More twitter, less of that other stuff.

Seriously?? I read it as:

1) ITK: Spurs after damaio.
2) ITK: AVB at hotel to charm him.
3) Poster: Or did he? Hulk implied the hotel isn't s supermarket.
4) Poster: No that was Danilo

Christ almighty, if that is construed as OT then this thread is doomed I say. DOOOMED

Aaaanyhow, back on topic - :oops: - the chances of us signing every one of those three has to be pretty much non-existant due to the financial reasons already pointed out.

Two of them though? I guess it isn't beyond the realms of impossibility. In that case I would hope for Ade and Moutinho. Ade because we know what he will offer us and Moutinho because we will need to fill that Modric shaped gap when he goes. A third more affordable striker on top would be a bonus.

At the moment I just want ONE star signing to happen to get me in full-on "this is gonna be our year!" excitement mode.

It's obvious that you're not knocking me and that's fair enough, I didn't take it that way to start with, but this is the Twitter thread for "Twitter information". Perhaps it isn't plausible information, but some of us will find it interesting and, possibly, feel that you were knocking Spurvert for it. Hopefully, that's not the case, but you are entitled to your opinion after all. I just disagree with it. :)

For me;

Unrealistic;
Moutinho
Leandro

Realistic;
Allen/Dembele
Rondon
Adebayor

I don't see a huge deviation in the quality between (in my humble opinion) realistic transfers and unrealistic transfers apart from the obvious and crucial differences in financing these deals although I still think the devil is in the detail when it comes to negotiating a sound deal with Man City and Adebayor.

id go along with that .. both leandro and moutino and their agents know they will get better deals elsewhere. we will be a last option if they actually want to leave their clubs and we agree a fee for a start!
